Love it LT,  screw using "crunchy" sounding Velcro when it gets a little weight on it. Use inset rare earth magnets like the ones I was gonna use for my marquee on Flynn's.

Now all you need to do is paint it black and get a stamp to replicate the brick look :)

I'd seriously consider painting.  Have a "stamp" made on a 3D printer and go from there. That or just use vinyl.

make a template , just cut the black area out of a square. Paint the base blue, then use the template to paint the black area

Stencil and a spray bomb would probably give a decent brick effect.

Have you looked at making a guide template with built-in stops?

Chain-drill and smooth a slot (red) the width of a Dremel bit shaft through some MDF and attach stops. (gray)

Use a #194 bit along with the attachment you showed above.

Set the Y-axis of the guide (blue) by putting the bit into position 2 of the template (Dremel switched off) and dropping it into the existing groove -- ensure that position 2 of the template matches the existing groove across the length of the guide.  (Use position 3 if you need the guide on the other side)

Set the X-axis of the template by putting the bit into position 1 of the template (Dremel switched off), dropping it into the existing groove, and clamping the template in place.

Trace through the template in numerical order.

If the template pattern is the right size, the bit will be in the existing slots at each numbered position, allowing you to switch the Dremel off when raising/lowering the cutting part of the bit through the template slot at the start and end of each stone block.   ;D

Scott

EDIT: Change to the template shown below -- extended the top and bottom gray pieces so you can clamp them to the blue piece as shown.

I've got to wait on cutting the brick pattern until I get those square LED buttons. I guess I'm going to order from Suzo

http://na.suzohapp.com/gaming_products/pushbuttons/D54-0004-31  or   http://na.suzohapp.com/gaming_products/pushbuttons/57-0004-31

Kinda leaning toward the low profile
Any reason you're not ordering them from Divemaster here?

$4.94 ea (DM) vs. $8.50 ea. (Happ) for the large square low-profile buttons.   ;D

I'm still on the fence. The low profile one looks pretty sweet and I like it but the regular large square button has more height on the lens and that could make the ? block look a little better, pop out a little more. I'm just nitpicking over items I've never seen in person. Honestly, I kind of need 1 of each so I can put them in place and see which fits best.  :-\   I probably have to order a set of each and use the remaining buttons for a future project or something. Pictures online only help so much.
PM Gary the part number/description for the regulars and ask him if he has any in stock -- if not, he can probably get them fairly quickly from his distributor.

+1 on ordering a set of each from him and saving on shipping.

I almost gave up on this idea because ever bit I tried to use was cutting into the template. So I thought about it and since MDF is easy to scrape, why not flip the bit around and just let the friction wear it down? It keeps the bit from eating away at the metal and it actually worked.  :lol
The idea is to keep the cutting surface below the metal template so the smooth shaft of the bit traces the outline.  ;D

Add some 1/4" plywood under the metal template and you'll have a little more wiggle room for the cutting surface of the bit between the MDF and the template.

  Template                Bit
metal template |  smooth shaft
1/4 plywood    |   wiggle room for smooth shaft and a bit of cutting surface
MDF                 |   cutting surface

Thank you PL1.
Always glad to assist.

Keep up the outstanding work.

 :afro:

:applaud: :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

What happened to the Bee anyhow, he leave with old Maximus?

Sweet build Louis!!!!

He's still gallivanting across the European countryside as far as I know. We spoke through PM back in the beginning of March. I asked him if he could work his flash game magic on Kaboom for me, the way he did with the Helicopter game. He said he'd be happy to take a look at it once he's back in the US. Said it'd be a few months.

:dunno  He should be popping back up sooner or later. I bet he's dying to build something. He'll have something cool in the works, no doubt. He's an addicted builder like the rest of us.

Bugggutty Booo!

I'm back in California, 8 months or something like that abroad. Had a lot of fun. Been here 4 days now.

Glad to be missed

I hope to build something, rented a place up in North Lake Tahoe for the next couple of months but will be up and down from Sacramento to there so maybe I can squeeze in a build. I fixed up and beffed up the battery on a power wheels for my nephew so there's something!

I will be going back to Europe in a few months as well, started an eBay business and it has been working out for me so no need to have roots anywhere.

-------------------------

On the subject of this man's build;

FUDKIN BADARSSE. Love the details with the bricks! Thinking out side the box.

Bookmarked.
