House of Cards
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:31:53 am »
I started Season 1 last week and am on Season 2 now.  I knew something happened in the first episode of season 2 so I spent the entire time thinking "Oh, he's going to kill him/her" and then "Oh she's going to kill her/him".   :laugh2:

Amazing show that's as good as anything I've seen in a long time.  And the writers are the best that I've seen about using technology properly.  Showing the text conversations as bubbles on screen so you can read the msg is great, Frank playing a FPS on his PS3 is huge, and having Tor described and used is remarkable in itself.

House of Cards is everything that's great about original programming and is worth the cost of Netflix by itself.  I have a rule that I won't watch a show until it's had at least three seasons produced as it helps me avoid getting into a show that gets cancelled too soon.  I started this series anyway and it was definitely worth it.

I keep meaning to check it out and haven't yet.

Other excellent Netflix originals worth watching: Lillyhammer and Orange is the New Black. These are both great.

Haven't heard of Lillyhammer but Orange is the new Black looks good too.  I love the fact that there are new distribution points for quality shows now that's different then what's been done before.

Take Silvio Dante from The Sopranos ("Little" Steven Van Zandt), relocate him to Norway, then resume mob tactics.

Just remember to turn on subtitles. It's half English, half Norwegian.

Haven't checked out HoC season 2 yet but was very impressed with the first.  Best TV since The Wire.

Check out the UK version on Netflix.  It is very good.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

When Francis used the term "burner", it reminded me of The Wire.

Omar comin'!
