Touch screen friendly front end, games, etc. Help needed
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:45:20 am »
I just got my 23" All-in-1 touch screen PC.
The main use will be Touch Jams (as I bought it to be a jukebox project).
However like most things, the more you put in it the more you get out of it.
I find that to be the case with arcade cabinets IMHO.
A 60 in 1 to me is better than just one game. (Again simply my opinion)

In thinking what I'd like to do with the PC a few things come to mind:

Jukebox
Touch based trivia games
Touch based slots
Touch based games

With the exception of the Jukebox I've never really played many touch based games, not even on my iPhone.
So touch trivia, slots, games, etc are all new to me.

I was pointed in the direction of Pop Cap Games and I will look into them over the weekend.
But any other suggestions are welcome. As well as a good front end that is touch screen based.
I know Simple Touch was one ?

Thanks all

(I'll also do a project thread as I make progress, detailing what I've obtained)

Simple Touch FE is a great FE to use.  And any issues can be posted here with the dev still answering them.  At least, he had been very good at supporting it.
GameEx has built in support too but I haven't used it for touch screen games (just a regular cabinet).

Here's a good thread with good info on Popcap games:

Link to Simple Touch.  Looks like a post was made in Dec about an issue but Lave Laar hasn't responded.

Ironically, Kevin Mullins last posted there.   He's someone that needs up repped.  Not important in this thread though. I'm just babbling.   ;D

A few more to wade through.  The 2nd one has a list of more threads.  If you're doing research, you'll find a lot of stuff to go through.  Some have a lot of duplicates but there are a lot of gems hidden in many of the threads.

Did my reading (thanks!).
Going to go with Simple Touch FE and I've ordered some Pop Cap games. (thanks all)
I also noticed that MAME does emulate some MegaTouch stuff....so I'll need to get on that.
Just need to get some cool slots and other trivia.
