Touch Screen Games
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:09:56 am »
Just finished my touchscreen jukebox/game terminal.  Now I need some games!

1. Are there any good Mame touchscreen games?  (I remember playing a touchscreen once and playing QBZone and Monster Madness - is there anything similar to that?)
2. Can anyone recommend any PC games that work well with a touchscreen system?  I bought wheel of fortune, but it is too keyboard dependent.
3. Know of any good games for kids for a touchscreen? (I bought chessmaster and a couple of freddi the fish games so far)

I have a couple of popcap games (bejeweled 2) and a couple slot machine games (masque), but anything else that would be fun to play?

Thanks!

You won't find those in MAME.  If you believe what you read in forums (I do), Merit plays hardball protecting their Megatouch games.
There are some much older games in MAME (Megatouch 3-5), but they are pretty archaic card & trivia games.

I searched and searched assuming someone had released a pc version of similar games, but came up empty.
Closest thing I found was online flash games.  Never tried integrating them with a front-end though.

Eventually, I bit the bullet and bought an old XL-Titanium (.....and parts to build another  ;D )

That is a bummer, QB zone is a great game and I have yet to find anything as addictive as monster madness.

Popcap games work really well with touch screens. Rocket Mania for instance is awesome using touch. it was like it was made for it. I had at one point about 10-12 popcap games all working with touch.

I actually bought bejeweled 2 and everyone seems to like it.  I'll try out Rocket Mania!  Thanks!

Ugh, I just checked think that they price their games a little too high.  $20 seems a little pricey for each of them...  I think that they should sell them for $10, because then I would buy a few!  Maybe I'll give the rocket game a shot, but although most of their games are neat, they are only neat for a little while...

How big is your screen?

the nintendo ds emulator works pretty well on some games..

look up desmume, maybe there's a way to have a second screen and use both?

19" monitor.  Why do you ask, will it pixelate the DS games on such a big monitor?

I found a couple of cool looking microsoft games on windows for tablet PC (inkball), but I tried and they won't work on XP...  Does anyone know how to make those work on XP with a touchscreen, I would assume that they should, but MS just blocks them out for some reason?

I tried it on my 15" screen and it wasn't too bad

I asked because if your screen was too small it would be hard to fit two screen on it, seems like it'll work fine.  Some games like electroplankton would make sense for a jukebox, and this one runs full speed.  It would be nice if the emulator allowed fullscreen or a type of fullscreen. For examples, if it expanded to fit vertically and the background turned black... that would be great.

If you are looking for Popcap games a little cheaper you can find them bundled at Sam's Club:

Peggle is reasonable at Amazon

Peggle is a great time eater for any age.

I couldn't get Peggle working on my touch screen.

Bejeweled Twist works great - also most hidden objects games are fantastic for touch screens - I've got about 20 of those.  Wendy's Page has a ton of those available and most work quite well although you need a keyboard for initial setup to enter a name or something.

Good suggestion, I've got a few I Spy games and the kids love them.  What is "Wendy's Page"?

Google it - I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to link to it here.

This post got me searching again.

Was browsing through titles that work on MAME and noticed the Midway's Touchmaster series is in fact emulated up through Touchmaster 2000, which probably on par with the Megatouch XL series.
