My wife likes the Moscato with the picture of Italy on the front.  It comes in a blue bottle in is between $12 to $15 depending on the sale.  I usually get the bottle she doesn't like.

Do you have a chain like Specs or Happy Harry's?  Every once in awhile there is a penny sale.  That is when the in-laws stock up.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

The two in your picture are pretty good for cheap.  I've been to a lot of wineries, drank a lot of wine, and honestly think you can't ever really go wrong with Yellow Tail.

If you prefer to buy American - I'm not sure I've ever had a bad California wine.  Missouri wines across the board are very sweet, we threw in the towel and just got Strawberry wine from Montelle.  Texas wines have improved significantly over the last 5 years, that entire scene has exploded.  Of those, we liked William Chris the most but those guys are getting rich.  Llano and Becker are good and probably the only ones you'll encounter out of state.

For great truth!

Chaucer's is pretty good and pretty inexpensive to boot!

Wine bah!  We just eat corn!

Of course the corn won't grow up here, the dirt's too rocky by far.  That's why all my folks drink their corn from a jar.

I'm just getting into this recently also.  I live in the Finger Lakes region in Central New York, and these guys crank out some REALLY good rieslings and niagaras.  My favorite 'local' wine so far is the Swedish Hill Svenska Red http://swedishhill.com/products/svenska-red/

As far as more national wines, the Columbia Crest Chardonnay (http://www.columbiacrest.com/our-wines/2011-grand-estates-chardonnay)
was one that I REALLY enjoyed.

With that being said, I really am JUST getting into this stuff, so I don't have a developed palate or anything like that.  So, grain of salt, eh?

Gahr-cone, bring me your finest box of wine!

If you are going to have a glass or two, the cheaper, sweeter wines are fine. If you will be drinking it all evening, something less sweet and probably more expensive will save you from the dreaded wine hangover. There's a bunch of wineries near where I ive and I usually get something local for $15 or so. Haven't had anything undrinkable yet! Lately I've been getting the fruit wines from http://www.mooberrywinery.com/ - the blackberry wine is delicious. In fact, it's what a lot of people on my xmas list are getting!

There's one that I have been drinking lately as well, can't remember the name of it. There was a bottle in my room for my honeymoon from the hotel, and it was awesome. It turned out to be like $12 at the store. I will find out and post it later.

Someone just needs to compile a database of the "natural" GHB content found in various wines.  That weird sparkle buzz you get from a 'good' wine?  That ain't ethanol.

That wine I mentioned before was Pelet Estates Proprieter's Reserve, cabernet merlot. Not a bad bottle for less than $20.

Cupcake is ok for cheap but you can do better than barefoot. That's what I buy In a magnum to make sangria. If you have a trader joes look for Blue fin. That and the trader joes costal varieties are often pretty good but each batch is different.

I'm a little spoiled given that I live in wine country.  There is soo much good wine for $10-15...and a few that are under $10.
