Guys, I want to build a Karate Champ for a friend as it is his dream cabinet but here in Austria/Europe no KC is findable.

I already have found the side-dimensions and made a side-profil in Solidworks.

What I could need are the roundings at the CP and the inner width BETWEEN the side panels......for the beginning

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Not sure of any dimensions but ArcadeArtLibrary.com has a copy of the Bezel - ( http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=1255 ) and it has dimensions of 23 3/4 inches square (if you deduct the 1/8 inch border on both sides of the width) so I would guess the inner dimensions of the machine were 23 3/4 inches wide and the cut out in the bezel along with the way it was mounted suggests it was using a 19" 4:3 monitor (11.25x 15). Unfortunately they don't seem to have a CP panel artwork or side panels so not sure on those !

EDIT : Arcadeoverlays, LLC has a 5 piece artwork for restoration of a karate champ machine for $158 here ( http://www.arcadeoverlays.com/StoreFrontProfiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sid=1&sfid=17232&c=390819&i=265344702 ) and also the CPO art for $39 ( http://www.arcadeoverlays.com/StoreFrontProfiles/deluxesfitemdetail.aspx?sfid=17232&c=383928&i=11008372 ) - So perhaps a call to them to get measurements to ensure they are the correct size before ordering would get you the dimensions you need or you might actually order it from them and then measure when received !)

Another source to look into is the Karate Champ model in the Arcade cabinets by Gozer Sketchup collection.

AFAIK his measurements are rounded to the nearest 1/2", but that should get you pretty close to what you're looking for.

I dont know why people still work with that stupi inch-system if you can measure exactly with centimeters and millimeters........

half an inch is 1,2cm....that is a huge unprecision.

They are designed in Google Sketchup so you can use it to open them -- And from there can be exported to .3ds or .obj or .dwg and then imported into 3DS MAX or AutoCad etc.

Measuring the width in autocad the model shows it as 24" wide inside and 25.5" outer width (so using 2 pieces of 3\4 inch ply for sides) which pretty much matches the bezel dimensions I listed before at 23 3\4"

Thanks....

I think the most accurate way is to print or order a bezel and cut the screen support-wood after the dimensions.

Actually the only thing left is the angle of the screen support-plate.....
