out a day and I already have a gripe xbox one
« on: November 23, 2013, 08:00:11 pm »
so I was looking at the new killer instinct game for xbox one and pretty disturbed they want to charge extra for charectors and then another 20 bucks for the combo breaker and another for this  and another for that.

if you want to add stuff to your incomplete game down the road that is fine and cool as long as we got what we paid for in the end at no extra charge but we paid for it already.

but to charge someone to finish/complete the game that it was meant to be played as is flat out wrong.

to me that is just ignorant and in my eye's a incomplete game lol.

how about you just finish it and sell it outright as games have been done since they were ever released on home consoles many moons ago.

so now we have to look forward to buying incomplete games at full value and have to pay even more to have a actual complete game and wait who know how long before they even release the rest of it type thing and when they do they want more money for somethng that was already paid for.

it's not our fault the game was not finished in time or whatever the excuse is.

that's pretty sad and low to me esp. when the console cost how much again? common now.

Not trying to start a war here, but personally I find it sad that somebody forked over 500 dollars for a console only to research if they like the games after the fact.  Especially considering the crap Microsoft tried to push on the consumers prior to the overwhelming E3 backlash.   It's almost as bad as the people who bought the ps3 (not 4) at launch.

The end of the day, it's consumers that have done this to ourselves.

If people didn't buy in game content, they wouldn't of settled on this mode of selling.

Companies are in it to make money, the most money they can extract.

If they know they can sell a game for $50 and then extract another $50 for the cool parts, they are going to do that than charge $50 for the complete pack.

Its not 50$ though. I can't be bothered listing the prices but while I don't particularly like the delivery method its not that unreasonable in this case.

Or just whine whatever.

I wasn't sure of the cost, so randoms were used.

I agree with you, I think games that are free, or low base cost with some instore is ok.

Also believe though, that you should be able to complete games without paying extra. To charge for a game and in game content required to complete the game is turdworthy to the greatest extreme.

And to charge full price for a game, and then charge more is very much on the nose.

This is like Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360.

You buy the game for £39.99 and then Dice brings out a Premium Pack for another £39.99 for maps that you know your mates are playing, then three months down the line the Premium game is £39.99 complete.  I am all for paying for extra content, but not at the expense of waiting forever for the patches that are needed for you to be "compatible" if you didn't buy the Premium pack and just wanted to play on the basic version.  Its screw you time especially at EA and now Balmer is jumping into the model to raise additional revenue.

I'm definitely getting a PS4 now, and I will pass on the Xbox One.

I hoping my Cronus will be compatible so I can use my 360 controller on the PS4.   ;D
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Battlefield 4 is a special case.  I made a rule of thumb several years ago, and basically, if you see a TV commercial that features people saying, "You gotta see this movie!" then that movie should be avoided at all costs.  It's a last ditch effort by marketing to generate false word of mouth buzz for a dog.  Pay special attention to the actors in these commercials.

For a "family movie" that's too weird, dark, or dull you'll see two parents and kids of at least two disparate ages.  (seeing two parents or even a wedding ring in an advertisement for 'family' stuff is VERY rare)

For a date movie, it'll be an attractive woman with her scruffy, yet cleaned up boyfriend that can't help but admit he enjoyed it.

Battlefield?  Dudes that look like they've never played a video game in their lives.

All roles that the target viewer projects themselves into.

Isn't KI3 free for the "core" game and Jago?

I don't know, I usually don't follow the games that have subscription for content models.

This is nothing new. This has been a disturbing trend for a while. On the 360 Epic was accused of shipping maps on the game that were later to be purchased as DLC. DLC is a huge money maker. Unless people stop buying it the trend will continue. PS4 will not be immune to this.

I have not bought one.

I was just looking into it a little more and thought that is kinda rotten and  I understand the money part it for them but in the end it is taken out on us and don't care for it.

I will not even own one until it is 150 or so.

there is no justice in paying the current amount when I have a huge back log of prior console's to keep me busy until these come into some thing I will be willing to pay for a game console.

there is no game console I will ever buy for that amount they are now even it were a xbox seven to me there just another game console and I still enjoy and play more classic's then I do current.

I like games that are hard and challenging where stuff like the xbox 360 I can sit down and go through most without even dying type thing were classic's there is some were I am still stuck on that stupid level for 15 years now lol.

I mean dont get me wrong they do look great and would like to have one but that's all they got going for me at the moment but I like part 1 on the console it was launched over part 2-3 on the next gen console type thing.

I even sold my 360 to go back to the original xbox and it's better lineup becuase the part 2,3,4's on the 360 I hated them over the original on the prior console it was like playing something totally different and set to extremely easy mode on the 360 sure it looked better but that's it and would preffer fun over looks.

Dudes that have never played a game?  Do those exist anymore?  Most of the best gamers at FPSs are physically healthy older teenagers/young adults, not slobs with a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- bucket under their ass.  Fighting games may have the same types of people, though I'm not certain.  In all of the fighting game tourneys I went to, I certainly didn't see very many fat, or even moderately overweight people.

And why is BF3 & 4 only being mentioned?  Pretty much all FPS do the extras like that.  CoD and even Halo do it.  It's the nature of the beast.  Wait a few months or even longer, and you'll save huge wads of cash.

I have not bought one.

I bought an Xbox One. I am disappointed that for my $500 I did not get a complete game, but several partials. In my opinion, a fighting game NEW should be $20 total, tops. There's never realy any story (except for Mortal Kombat - that ones is actually pretty good) and even though there is lots of fighters and moves you really just do the same crap over and over. I admit this even though I am a hardcore fighting game fan.

I have to say that I am really enjoying Kiler Instinct, even though I am only playing the free version. I will probably buy the package down the road when they stop adding crap on top. This stupid model of giving a game, then nickel and diming you to death is garbage. If I wanted that kind of nonsense, I'd play games on my cell phone.

I will admit that playing assassins creed black flag on the One has been awesome, as is Forza.

It's the same "freemium" b u l l s h i t large companies (like Electronic Arts) has been pushing for on the iOS platform since in-app purchases came out. I believe the idea was to offer the game for free as a demo, and allow an in-app purchase to fully unlock it, eliminating the need for two different versions in the app store. Or allow map apps to produce one app and allow users to pay for regions they need. However, greedy b a s t a r d s are abusing the idea and producing a crippled game that you can move through with ridiculous in app purchases. Many of these target little kids who's dumbass parents give them the password to their account, not realizing that the kid will be "sneaky" and rack up a few hundred dollars to move through a game. I read about it being a huge issue, and then it happened last christmas to my x-girlfriends mom and little brother. Mother had no understanding of how that worked until I explained to her how the purchases work and how her son fully understood what he was doing.
