Mamewah, or mame problem (XP Pro)?
« on: November 18, 2003, 11:11:49 pm »
Hey everyone.  Been reading for a while and am certainly learning a lot about Mamewah in general.  I have it set up and can find my games however when I select the game and hit enter (or "1" in mamewah) the game will not start.  For a second, I see a dos dialog box pop up with some commands scrolling down but the window soon disappears and no game begins.  I assume this is a Mame problem.  Do any of you have any ideas.  I am running the latest version of mame

Thanks for any advice

Update,

I was using the windows command line version of Mame.  Just to tinker I switched to the dos version.  Now the window comes up long enough to read it and it wants me to pick an audio setting.  Like 6 or 7 choices.  (soundblaster, Windows sound, no sound, etc.)  No matter what I select the window goes away but the game still will not load.  Any ideas?

What version of Mame should I be using.  Also for some reason the mamewah logo doesnt show up either.  I had read someone else had this problem.  And I thought the cabinet building would be the stressful part.  Still fun though.

Thanks everyone...

You should use the Windows (commandline) version of MAME.  It sounds like a MAME problem to me.  Try running a game from a commandline (not MAMEWAH) - you will then see the message MAME is giving you and you can go from there...

What layout are you using?  Make sure you install MAMEWAH, so that PaintX.dll is installed (this is required to display PNG's).
