GroovyArcade Distro Vertical Orientation
« on: August 20, 2013, 08:46:08 am »
Hello,

I don't know if I'm the first getting this issue (I tried to found it on other posts, with no luck).
I installed (and reinstalled) GroovyArcade distro (64 bits) on a USB Stick and a SSD Disk (several times, for testing proposes).

I choose "Vertical" on "Monitor Orientation" when installing the distro to a disk, but the monitor orientation is always Horizontal.
I had to edit advancemenu.rc and mame.ini to get the vertical view.

Anyone noticed this?

The distro is very nice, boots quickly and runs fast! Nice Work!

Thanks for reporting. Does it work however once you install it to the disk, and select the option "Monitor Orientation" again?

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi Calamity,

No it doesn't. I tried to change it several times on the installed instance, it kept horizontal.

Best,

hello I am having very very similar issue. however I am not using the install distro.
also I am modifying my mame.ini file for groovymame and it appears to be ignoring my requests for vertical as well.

Hi arcadepcnut,

When using GroovyMAME you must leave the rotation options alone (-rotate, -ror, etc.) and use the -orientation option instead, which is GroovyMAME specific. This is because GroovyMAME manages these options internally.

So chose one of the following:

orientation horizontal
orientation vertical
orientation rotate
orientation rotate_r
orientation rotate_l

My advice is to use either "rotate_r" or "rotate_l" depending the direction you rotate your monitor.
