Recommended Youtube monitor repair videos for dummies?
« on: August 02, 2013, 08:52:25 am »
Hey there! Just got a Dragon's Lair II cabinet that was converted to a Tekken 2. Tomorrow I think I may start trying to restore it to brand new. I've never done anything like this before at all and I would like some help. It's a 25 inch monitor. I have no idea who makes it, but I assume it's the one that came with the cab from the factory. Now, I don't know if this is normal or not, but when you first turn the machine on, the monitor is dark and it takes about 20-30 minutes for it to get "normal". Also, it makes a buzzing sound and has some fuzziness lines in the picture (I do not know how to describe this). It does look pretty good in all though. Don't know if there's anything I can do. I have no idea what a "cap" kit is or anything like that. I am afraid I will blow up if I touch the monitor. Come to think of it, I should have probably unplugged the game before I came to work today. Oh well. How long does it take to discharge, how do you discharge it, just unplug it?

So anyway, as I said I know nothing. I don't have any saws or anything like that to do any major woodwork. Never messed with bondo or anything either, but I assume that is easier than monitor repair so I may just do that instead first.

I have no internet at home, except my wife's iPhone, which she doesn't let me use all the time, so I want to download some Youtube videos on arcade restoration and play them on my tablet.

Any tips on good videos or any tips here or anything?

Thanks!
