kind of a story here to explain whats going on.

I had a cab with a ultimarc arcadevga agp card in it and wanted something more powerfull so I went to the sapphire x1950 with soft 15khz but certain games would not sync right and then added custom mode line's to soft15k and made some custom res's in the mame ini and in the end all was perfect.

well on my buddy's cab his arcadevga card went bad so we threw a his X1950 XT in there with soft 15khz and the same results I had at first with certain one's not syncing.

so I then took my mame ini and swapped it out with his along with adding my custom modeline's in soft 15khz and sure enough perfect video again.

the problem now is the controls meaning the buttons and joys all still work like they did and were programmed to do prior to the ini and modeline swap but when I go to use his mamewah the controls are dead and do nothing at all now and the problem I dont know why it's doing that,

I still kept his original mame ini and was wondering if there is a controls file contained in it that I need to put back so his mamewah controls will pick back up again  :dunno

I don't really understand your question. The controls work in Mame but DON'T work in Mamewah?

What kind of controls is he using? USB, IPAC, etc...
The "controls" file for Mamewah is called Mamewah.cfg. Depending on the version you are using it might be located inside Mamewah/config/ folder.

exactly everything is perfect in mame32 straight up but in mamewah there is no response ot the controls anymore.

ipac 4

and think a GGG encoder for the trackball but dont recall testing it in either anyhow.

the thing with your second suggestion is I did not change and file systems in the mamewah folder.

if it has something like a ini maybe that part differs from a said location to my mame ini.

I will check it out though for sure and all ears becuase I am still stumped.

If that doesn't work. You might need to use Winipac.
Quote
Q: How can I use WinIPAC to program my IPAC from MAMEWAH?
A: First, edit mamewah.ini, and set 'winipac_file' accordingly, eg 'c:\winipac\winipac.exe'. Then set 'mamewah_ipc_file' to your standard IPAC file, which contains the key mappings for controlling MAMEWAH (eg 'c:\ipc\mamewah.ipc'). Now edit \mamewah\ini\emuname.ini, and set 'ipc_file_or_path' to your emulators relevant IPC file, eg 'c:\ipc\stella.ipc'. IF this 'emulator' is for PC apps, then you should point to a folder which contains the IPC files for each game, eg 'c:\ipc\pcgames'. MAMEWAH will use WinIPAC to reprogram the IPAC each time an emulator (or PC app) is launched, and reprogram it back to the MAMEWAH IPC mappings after quitting.
