  • Can u guess what game this image is from?
Just found out about this, & my son & I will b going tomorrow (Aug. 30th). A huge video game exhibit at the Ontario Science Centre  :o, running until Sept. 2. About 150 games, dating from the 60's all the way up to modern consoles/computer games, & some pinball machines. All on free play. I saw Star Wars, Tron, Pacman Plus in some of the few pics.

Anyone else interested (it'd b cool to actually meet some of the others from the forum)? Sorry about the late notice, I just found out about it. & the 30th is the only day I can make it.

For those who don't know, the 'Centre is at 770 Don Mills Road, Toronto Ontario. Open from 10 am to 5 pm 7 days a week (although I imagine they're closed on Sept. 2nd--labour day).

While I had read a review saying that the number arcade games themselves were minimal, I found this article about it, and it seemed positive.

Fancy that now!   :dizzy:

Yeah, but they're all encased in machinery which keeps them protected from our harsh, arctic climate. Once you cross the border, you go from 70 degrees right to 21!

Take off, eh!

No word of a lie, I was working in Pennsylvania almost twenty years ago, and was watching the local news. The weather came on, and the map behind the weatherman showed both U.S. and Canadian temperatures, with U.S. temperatures shown in Fahrenheit and Canadian temperatures shown in Celsius... ...but WITHOUT showing the "C" nor the "F" on the map!

I thought to myself, "No ---goshdarn--- wonder people in the U.S. think we all live in igloos! You go from being a hot 86 degrees in Buffalo, New York to a frigid 30 degrees in Toronto!"

It's not so much that we think you live in Igloos, but rather somebody told us once that it was cold up there and we can't be bothered to check.  I mean who intentionally visits Canada?  ;)

Sorry, yeah, we went, & it was very cool, even if the Speed Buggy cab was out of order, & the Star Wars cab which was in the video was nowhere to b seen. I was really hoping to get to play that one.

I got photos on my iPod, & I'll post some as soon as I can. Really busy right now; getting H' back into school. It has, however, gotten my momentum going on Project Legacy again. Hopefully I'll actually have the furnace room prepped & I can start some real work soon. I am google sketchuping again (glacial pace).

It's not so much that we think you live in Igloos, but rather somebody told us once that it was cold up there and we can't be bothered to check.  I mean who intentionally visits Canada?  ;)

Reading this reminded me of a trip we took from Toronto down to Pennsylvania way back in the late 80s...

We'd drive down from Toronto to "New Milford, Pennsylvania" to go to "Wolf's Lair" to play paintball.  On long weekends they'd take Canadian dollars on par.  We'd bring a case or two of beer along with us, and we'd play "CA vs US" all weekend long.  Met some great guys down there.

However, one year on our trip down, we were crossing the border on the way home and the guy in the lane next to us had two sets of skis on the roof of his car.  Things were backed up (Monday afternoon, after the long weekend) and we started chatting w/him and his wife.

"Where are you headed?" we asked.

"Toronto", he replied.

"With skis?", we puzzled.

"Yeah, we're coming up from Buffalo for a few days.  Looked cold this week so we figured we'd get some skiing in."

If I hadn't been there and witnessed the conversation myself, I wouldn't have believed it.

Isn't that thing sweet? I wish it'd been available for playing.

& when I was looking at that Missile Command machine, I actually found myself half wondering how I could rip the volcano buttons off & run for the door....that big heavy trackball would have been nice, too--I forgot just how heavy that thing was until I played it.

My real disappointment was the missing Star Wars. I loved that game & was really looking forward to playing it. My record: level 22. I once saw a guy, no bull, on level 100. I nicknamed him master Yoda.
