10 Years and counting
« on: June 08, 2013, 10:48:45 am »
So interesting thing happened to me.  Someone who I had sold a mame machine to around 9 years ago, sent me an email asking if I knew anyone who wanted it.  Not knowing anyone but trying to be helpful I said I would buy it back.  I offered $250 and will be picking it up this week some time.  (I think I sold it for $1200, all those years ago--so not bad)

Before I responded to them I searched my old posts to see if I had announced it years ago just so I could jog my memory of what this beasty was.  so back in 2003-4 I had started asking questions about it, but never really posted a build thread--oh well.  Interesting thing though is that along the way I was reading my old history starting from newbish beginnings to "seasoned expert" to "been there done that"  Funny stuff--I was really helpful there for awhile, wrote a few FAQ's and even knew my way around a monitor (all of which I have since forgotten)  You can really tell where the kids came in!

If you've been around for awhile go dig through your old stuff--might be inetresting..
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Pretty cool.

One of my problems when it comes to searching back on my old posts is that when I first started, I had a different screen name and email and with my current screen name I just didn't post a lot in the beginning.
But it is interesting to sometimes think back to the lessons learned.
I remember when I was first working up the nerve to discharge my first monitor for a cap job (wg4900). Now I'm working on other people's monitors.

A lot of my old conversations/threads are weird now because pinballjim was all over them trolling.  I've gone back over some of my older stuff and now it looks like I'm arguing with myself a lot and being pretty douchey about it.   :P

Definitely more douchbaggery than would have been there without pinballjim.   ;D

I can remember when Chad joined--he was the one of the most prolific posters ever seen and didn't even have a machine.  Wasn't it years before you actually built something? lol

Built, yes, but I owned arcade games before joining BYOAC.  Some of us aren't MAME people.  We're arcade people.
