I had the pleasure of meeting Ray Harryhausen at a Comic Con about 5 years ago, and he seemed to be in good health then.
As an animator, I approached him as a fan of his work, but also as a student in awe of a Master. He was very nice to me, and even after all these years, he was still really excited to talk-shop about animation in general, the industry, the quality of recent movies, and the future of Animation.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting Ray, and is one of the biggest highlights of my career.
I'm am really sad to hear yet another Animation Legend pass away. But as arky said, we all have to go sometime. 92 years is long life, and Ray has accomplished so much for himself and the industry he so deeply influenced.
RIP Mr. Harryhausen, thank you for the inspiration.
