Brainstorming Alternate Star Wars Artwork
« on: April 03, 2013, 10:54:24 pm »
I am brainstorming some alternate artwork for Atari Star Wars

What I am considering is a  3 X-Wings  in a vertical climb above the Atari A.  Of course this would blend in together and not look like clip art pasted together.

Has anyone seen something like this already?  If its already out there, maybe its not necessary to recreate it.

Cool idea, new to me so I think you're going to have to hit the photoshop/illustrator like a boss.  You going full color or going to do stylized look?  Maybe sample some of the taito side art style to mix things up a bit.

From your description I like the idea especially if it looks like the early painted murals used in the theatrical releases
I drink and I know things.

Hate to be the voice of dissent, because Mikonos does good work, but I think that's just too busy. And the P2 joystick bursting from the Stormtrooper's chest is going to awkward.

I've always wondered with control panel design why collages of characters/images seem to be so popular with homemade CPs. If you browse through actual control panels from real games, most of them are subtle and understated. They looks like natural extensions of the control scheme of a ship, for example. The best ones help you understand how to play the game.

I like the control surrounds (silver and gold bits) but the collage is too busy for my tastes.

I wouldn't mind seeing the surrounds on a faux brushed metal background with buttons that might make it resemble something like the prision deck communications panel.
