so I grabbed one of these for emu's and have a second on the way and was wondering if anyone got theirs to work in the emu's for pc.

I have a dual usb ps1/ps2 controller to pc adapter and hoping it will just plug and play but I have not even tried it out yet becuase I am rebulding the stick to look and work like new again.

I also have no clue how I never seen these and missed this setup all these years and just finding these exsist not even a week ago lol.

I must say though I have about 6 pc and console flight stick's anywhere from $20.00-$100.00 new and they all feel like junk and toy's compared to the feel of this setup.

these feel more like a real plane would and are super smooth feeling no popping hanging uneven travel etc.

if it is not plug and play I guess I will have a new project on my hands to make it happen  >:D

I am wanting to get these going for some smashtv, gorilla war, akari warriors, time soldiers etc.

from the feel I think I will dig it for some mech/flight games too over the regular flight sticks.

it's funny though this was sony's first analog controller and what started the dual shock to begn with and I am just finding that out how many years down the road now lol.

I wish I had one of these back in the day too as these are the smoothest feeling stick I have came across to date for any console make or model.

I have not tried any of the thrustmaster stuff yet though.

so I tried it and it is looking at the two sticks as one.

I remember my ps2 controllers being the same and had to do something to get the two sticks to seperate but other then that it is working and it's on lol.

it's funny though I can get ps2 controllers ps1 controllers and various other makes of their controllers, joys, pads etc. but no matter what ever I do for the life of me the ps3 controllers will not work.

tried many drivers and various setting's and nothing.

I did get a taste of smash with how it will feel's so if I can get them to split I'm happy I grabbed these things and should be a nice addition to the cab, pc, and console's.

well it turns out it is dual sticks but they only work as one wich is beyond me why they did that and why they both act the same as mentioned prior.

I got all the functions out of my psone console controller found no tutorial on how to make it work so now I am going to do so where I get 100% function out of it the way I want with seperate sticks.

the only thing I could find is some chinese secret guy made a youtube vid with a wireless ps3 controller for the guts.

cool it is wireless but sucks it dont work on pc still or ps2 or ps1 so that was a waste to me even if it were true or he released his hidden secret..

me I am just going to do it and post what I did to make it happen

to start off I am strippin the psone controller or my old ps2 controller depending on what I want to do board wise.

last update till I am done with the project I got it torn down with pics and going to make it happen there is a huge void in there.

if andy has anything to mimmic analog sticks something like a ipac or similair size would fit not problem at all.

but anyhow I looked it over and planned out how to go about it and will take me a couple days to get it done and listed with a tutorial.

I know I would have done this years ago if I knew these sticks were around and work as good as they do.

I will have it where it has every single function used on a regular dualshock controller and still have the mode switch for the analog and digital.

another few bonus's my way is not only do I get to make each button work as whatever button I want I get each stick to work independant as left and right stick's like a normal controller does and I also get to add the thumb button L3 R3 that the sticks never had stock.

add the d-pad as the hat functions.

I also think I am just going to fill in the center buttons with bondo sand it down and custom paint it too since I am going to custom rebuild it from scratch pretty much and have no use for them buttons anyhow becuase there already on the sticks except L3 and R3 but I can stash them anywhere I want and will probably just use some mini buttons for them somewhere.

stayed tuned all this is going to be a cool setup  :droid  :droid

No need to tear up your controller.  Just try a different PSX to USB converter.  I have two that both recognize everything correctly, all buttons, two separate controllers, each with two separate sticks, etc.

Also, the original "Dual Shock" already has the L3 and R3 button functionality.  If you actually have a "Dual Analog," which predates the "Dual Shock," maybe it's not compatible with the converter and that's the problem.

And yes, it works great for Robotron, SMASH TV, etc.  Just set deadzone in MAME to about 50% to emulate digital sticks, and about 10% for games with actual analog input.  It's also good for racing games with steering on the left stick, and gas/brake on the right stick.

  • I glow in the dark.
I have one that works.

A 3-1 with Saturn, PS2 and DC

Link

Works with Mame.  Just tried it now.

Personally I like the Xbox 360 controller.  It just works and you are not as cramped as with the PS2 controller, which is IMHO a piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.

IMHO it's the reverse.  I'm guessing you have big hands?

The one designed by Japanese people fits smaller hands better, and the one designed by Americans fits larger hands.  What an odd coincidence.

Also, oddly enough I have that exact convertor, but it plugs into an XBox.

are you guy's talking about a controller you hold in your hand with thumbsticks like the dual shock etc.?

if so were not on the same page here this is the sony's first dual analog joystick controller not a dual shock or handheld type or shape at all.

there's link to the pic of it in the OP.

Ah, sorry, you mean this?

http://compare.ebay.com/like/230881893283?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

I was wondering why you saying it was so good for flight games.  It was a little as confusing as the Playstation's first analog controller was literally called the "Dual Analog":

Re: anyone ever use the original playstaion dual analog joystick for mame?
« Reply #10 on: March 27, 2013, 08:47:01 pm »
yup that is it and it was sony's first analog control of any sort even prior to your second link.

both sticks work as one except the buttons wich I did not know until I got it so I am stripping a posne controller for this one so it can do ps1 ps2 and pc.

2nd one I am going to use a 360 wired controller for 360 and pc could go wireless but I dont want to fart with battery's I am already swamped in controllers that want more including tv remotes all over the place  :laugh2:

I can make this happen and almost done with the first already but in the end I can have two of them going on the pc wich is going to be sweet for some of the 2 player twin stick games and also all the various console flight games.

my main approach is pc use though becuase then each function can be changed on the fly in most games or app that configure like joy to key etc.

also that guys model# was wrong these are a scph-1110

Well ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- who the hell has one of those in their cupboards?

And I went to all that trouble to find the dual shock (the original PS1) controller, realising it was totally ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- for purpose and having to use the Xbox 360 controller to play Robotron which ended up to be two freaking hours.. :blah:

The thanks you get.  ;D

I did have a link to the pic in the OP but even I can barely see it going back to look with the background bledning it in so I am sorry about that.

I got a bunch of pc tank based games on the way now too  :laugh2:

I am now going to need a different psone controller though. I could use the one I have but it has the clear plastic layered board deal like the ps3 instead of the rubber pads for the buttons signals so I am just going to hang onto that one for regular use.

I would have to solder all leads to a ribbon harness and it's just that much harder and picky to get in over using a dremel wheel on a pad and having a nice big copper pad to solder to all by itself instead of 15+ pins within mm or less of eachother.

this one here is 110-M and the same as the 1200-m I need one that has the H or A on the back to make it more simple so that is what I am hunting down now before I can finish it.

the stick part is already done I just need to straight wire the controller pcb now.

90% done with the entire project now and just have to tie in the thumsticks to the joystick pots.

I would have been done but decided to build the control deck itself all off european blocks that way I can stick any pcb for any console in there and not have to mess with anything on the modded twin stick side anymore.

so now this will work with anything out there really, just plug in wich button you want where for each system type thing.

took a little longer to install the blocks but instead of using them on the controller pcb itself and being stuck with ps1 and pc only this way I am now open to any console pcb I break out / straight wire

sorry guy's I have got almost 50 hours in 4 days time and have not even had time to eat right.

it is 98% done but wanted to update this about the other stick mods I am doing and I contacted cts wich is the original pot maker for the thrustmaster gameport style and they sent me some perty nifty samples today  >:D

O yes it is going to happen with them too I beilieve.

I will get 34 buttons out of the throttle and joystick not including there functions becuase there the analog part when done but I am pretty sure they got me some direct 10k's and knew what I was after or trying to do here so Ima geekin now

got it all wired up tonight and a few test runs but I used the rumble motor solder pads for ground and when I hooked it up some of the buttons were working while others were not so I assume one side use's the ground only momentairly to make the rumble function for certain things and why they were not working perhaps a pulse chip or something controls that side.

so I daisy chained off the working one's off the other rumble pad and they all picked up including the hat wich I wired in as the D-pad but it works as a 8 way too so that was a bonus.

then the right stick would only work up and down function wise and I know I had it soldered in the right way but I checked each line 3 times just for the heck of it and still no go so I conntected the power leads off each pot like the stick originally had them tied together and as soon as I did that the stick works great now too.

not sure what is up with that becuase the controller dont need it like that but it would only work with them tied, so be it lol.

now the only part left to work out is the left stick the buttons all work fine on it but the analog stick function does nothing so I am thinking I need to check the wiring throughout again and if still no go like the other stick I will try to tie it in too somehow.

if I got one side working 100% there should be no reason the other will not take beings there the same thing part for part just one is soldered into the left thumbstick and the other is soldered into the right thumbstick.

I alos added two mini momentary push buttons on the base part of it to work as L3 R3 as the stick setup stock was missing them completely but I am also going to add one on each of the sticks so either hand never has to leave a stick to get 100% function that would as if you were holding a regualr controller.

mode switch start and select I left as they are on the stick. but everything else will be on the sticks themselves.

it's late and I have to get up early but man I was wanting to get this 100% functional and get a game in but there is alway's tommorow to finish up.

once it is all going 100% I will post the pics and tutorial if there is even any interest in making one crazy setups.

me I am going to do a pair of them for smash tv mech assualt etc..

no issue on the pc side with any of it either so it is going to work with any emu as long as I can get the other stick to pickup but it was tested in some and works great so far except the stick function of the one side

I finally got my game on  :applaud:
tested working 100% on ps1 ps2 and pc

I just have to fill in the buttons and paint it and I will post pics of it all.

I am happy with it too there's nothing like it that I know of with as much pitch and smoothness that these have.

I would rather have this setup on the cab then the sticks for games like smash tv it fit's the bill.

I think the following I am going to do it with a xbox pcb that way I have  the best of both worlds and they both can still run together on the pc as a quad stick, then all I need to do is grow a set of goro arms :laugh2:

I also have pretty much every old school thrustmaster throttle's and sticks like the f-16 tqs, and wcs 1 & 2, x-fighter stick, f-22 pro, fcs pro, fcs and the f-16 pro.

so yeah there next on the to do list  :notworthy:

when done I should be able to get more functions out of them then there current ones that there asking $400.00 a pair too!!  >:D
