I have a couple Ultimarc light guns I'm wanting to outfit with metal hoses for cab connection. They just don't feel right or look right in their current usb cable attached state. I have a mame cab that's almost complete, and it seems to be a rarity for people to attach their light guns to their cabs in an authentic manner, but I plan on doing it right, and will be building some good holsters for them as well.
The black, (rubber lined?), cables seem too short, and don't have much flex in them, giving me the impression they will be more in the way when holstered, and I don't want that detracting from a non-light gun arcade experience.
Anybody had any luck in replicating a stainless flex metal gun hose for light guns? I've been googling and searching the forums with no luck. The closest I came was an old post that referenced the "Ultra-Flex Flexible Metal Conduit" sold by McMaster, (
http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-electrical-conduit/=m0qu4d).
Most conduit either isn't the right kind, or has a large diameter, but the McMaster seems to be closer. Only problem is, finding fittings that are even remotely similar to the ones on original gun hoses. If I could even get close I'd be happy, but it's not happening.
The Happ metal gun conduit measures to be 7/16 of an inch, but might be considered 1/2"? People always mention using shower hose, but I haven't seen anybody actually execute this idea, and shower hose doesn't have nearly as much flex in it and the fittings could pose a problem if there's no playable rotation at the base of the plate attached to the cab, which keeps the hose from kinking up.
