Just rewatched E.T. with my kids...

Man, what a great movie.  It has really good pacing and some amazing scenes.  When ET psychically separates himself from Elliot it's a deep scene, well crafted.  Then when E.T. dies and everybody takes their masks off you realize how much they had humanized him already - only to be shocked again when the mothership jumpstarts poor ET's heart.  The bike scene is cinema gold.  My kids enjoyed it and I enjoyed it.  What a great flick.  Can't possibly think of anything I'd change.

I would have had Elliot drop M&M's instead of Reeces Pieces.  Otherwise yeah nothing to change.

I seem to recall that M&M's were pitched to first, but they did not want to pony up the $ for product placement.  Monumental mistake in hindsight as no one were eating Reeses Pieces until ET came along.

I especially like when you fall into a hole, find a telephone part, and have to float gently back out of the hole.  Then you run the phone part back to combine it with your prior pieces before an agent chases you away.

I loved Reeses Pieces. Loved M&Ms, too. All garbage now though, good christ.
