Hi folks.  I have a nice 24 inch phillips I'm trying to put in my arcade cabinet.  The problem is that I took the control board out of the frame, and I can't seem to figure out how to reconnect it.  Normally these are keyed so that the power connector only fits one place, but this seems to have three different plugs that looks the same.  One is the power cord, the second is the degaussing, and the third goes to some sort of decoder board that goes into the back.  Please see the attachment.  What can I do to fix this?  I'm a little scared of just plugging it in and blowing the unit up.  If you look on the board...there are three plugs that look the same.  One is black, the other two are white.

your AC is going to plug in right next to the fuse. that's a no brainer.

your degauss is going to probably plug into somewhere near the AC but to a switch or relay of some sort. my money is on either red or black connector next to that black relay. it will be the connector attached to it. (the degauss runs on 110 volts AC for a short time during startup) if your degauss coil plug is colored i'd match the color to the pin color.

as for your other one... :dunno sorry...your 2/3 of the way there anyways.

So the power is white...the problem is that the degauss coil plug is also white.

yep, the ac will plug into the white one next to the fuse...flip that board over and follow the tracks. you will find that the AC input track forks after that fuse... one will go over to power the tv system.. run to a trasistor or something, the other will run through to that relay then out and to one of those connectors. I'll place my bet on red. that is your degauss.

i count 3 other connectors not being used in the pic. i don't know what board you might be talking about or what it might do. if you post a pic maybe help figure it out.

man, that's a wierd one.

looks like some kind of power supply. any idea where the small 3 pin at the top left goes?

It goes into a controller for video or something.  I tried the peer and you are right.  Now I just need to figure out which is the degaussing coil.  What should I use the red or black?

your best to follow the trace on the other side of the board. i have a feeling one is switched for the degauss, the other is straight AC for that other board.

who knows, maybe they are both switched and it doesn't matter.

take a look on the inside of the back of the tv cabinet, sometimes they will paste a schematic on there. it's a long shot, but maybe there is one on the internet, post the model number and i can look around an see.

That's a tall order...couldn't I just stick the leads with a multimeter?

Ok..stuck it with a multimeter.  Looks like I have a constant 120v and a temp 120v so I plugged into the temp 120.  Looks good so far.

Kind of tough without notes or pictures of how it came apart.  Keep working with your multimeter, reasoning things out, and try finding the schematics for the board.  Search model number + "service manual" in Google.

Wouldn't the degaussing coil go hot for a few seconds?  I found that one.

yes, it should energize as soon as the set is powered up...then shut off.
