Old Closed Arcade Two Blocks Away 11/29 pics
« on: November 27, 2012, 06:45:12 pm »
So I moved to a very small town a lil' over a year ago. About 3000 people live here and my company has about three years of work left here. I was talking at lunch with some of the locals about my MAME cabinet and someone mentioned there is an old boarded up arcade two blocks from my house that still has all the games inside. Another guy who is a friend of the family that owns the place said they opened it in 1984, have about 15 games inside, 2 pool tables, 2 pinball tables and an old jukebox. He said they closed it up about 14 years ago. I plan on meeting the owner and seeing if he'll let me look inside. Unfortunately They say He's in a wheelchair and doesn't get out much anymore. I'll let you all Know how it goes.

If you mean the holy grail, TRON ? I am not getting my hopes up and god even knows what's in there or if he will be willing to even talk to me about it. All my wife said when I told her about the arcade is You're not gonna try to buy the building are you?

Try and buy the building! Try and buy the building!

The worst part of collecting this huge crap is you run out of space so quickly. You buy the building not only do you get sweet space to store it all you don't have to move the ones already in there.

Here's some tease. I have driven by this building twice a day for over a year. It's bigger than I thought it was. 55x30 with a 50x 12 addition. Only has 2 windows in the front and even though the board is leaning in one, you cannot see anything inside. If I ever get inside I better bring a flashlight.

If you want to see the inside of this arcade...You may want to not stomp around his yard peeking in his windows, measuring the size of his
buildings and then splashing the results across the interweb... This guy may be holding on to the past and like his privacy, So being your dealing
with a small town mentality, put down your flashlights and torches, and just go talk to him.

Quiet down, pbj.  We all want to see the pics.  The guy probably doesn't even know what the interwebs are...

This is VERY cool. It's reminding me of Al Capone's vault. I'm hoping you have a better result than Geraldo Rivera did!

The owner might be excited that someone has interest in looking inside after all these years. Definitely peruse this.

Heh, don't buy that building.  Get what's inside if you can but that thing is not worth the burden of ownership just to get 15 games.  Especially if you don't plan on staying in this town.  There is very likely a reason nobody else has tried to buy the thing.

The owner is in bad health and I was not able to speak with him, but I spoke with his brother on Thursday and He told me that the arcade closed 14 years ago and all the games were leased. The company they leased them from took 5 years to come pick up the games. He also said that the pool tables (that were also leased) have never been picked up by the company that owns them, so they are still inside.
