Atari Stun Runner restoration

pics of my to be restored Stun Runner
All it is missing is the PCB game board it has the sound board and a good yolk controller (from a starwars cab it has thumb buttons that are not hooked up) the monitor has no burn in at all its a Electrohome G19 CDO ill cap it but that probably it the art is ok no plans on replacing it.

inside the stun runner and the monitor
the monitor was just floating in the cab the Nuts were installed on the same side as the monitor frame so they weren't doing anything exept  the the two staples holding the things in there-look close at the pic

I love this cab. I used to play Stun Runner like this all the time, then the local place put Star Wars in it.

if anyone has a stun runner pcb with or without second board it would really help im having trouble finding one up here in B.C

i was thinking because i have the thumb buttons on my yolk controller (from SW) i could make the thumbs start buttons so you could use bombs without letting go of the controller

Great idea to do shockwave without reaching down to the start button.

Twistywrist has the connectors and pins to fab an extension --highly recommended if you don't want to hack into the original yoke harness.

Does the mechanical difference between the SW and STUN Runner yokes cause a problem for the game/calibration?

(There's a small removable plate that stops the STUN Runner Y-axis from going below horizontal)

I see it has a Y-Axis crossplate so it either started as a SW yoke and someone added the crossplate and swapped the cover or it started as a STUN Runner yoke and was repaired using SW parts.

Bare splices inside the yoke body from the harness to the wires that lead to the grips?   :dizzy:

That is some ugly wiring in there.

I figured if the yoke's wiring was still in good shape that tapping in at the 12-pin would be the way to go, but now that's looking somewhat like polishing a turd. (It has been done by the Mythbusters, but. . .)

I think I need to go soak in one of Nep's connector pron posts to get those wiring images out of my head.   :puke

cant say about how it works i don't have a stun runner PCB at the moment,
ya i got all  my machines from the same guy and his electrical skills were surprisingly limited for owning and arcade company for 20+ years

the things iv seen in these machines i'm surprised they did not burst into flames  :timebomb:

went to the shop to paint a cab that im fixing for friend, had a dead WG4600 swapped it for a acer 4:3 19 inch used a converter board, the picture looks great from all angles and bright even under the smoked plexi.
so i was waiting to put the 3d coat so i inspected the Atari yolk controller and found some serials
- the cover plate and the controller don't match
- the pins that go with the 2 Allan key bolts on the handle were loose inside and there is no hole for them in the handle pieces, iv seen picture of them and there is 3 holes and the pin in in the middle one so i don't know?

What the heck??  ???

042634-01 is the part number for the rear frame on the Stun Runner yoke (the part that bolts to the cab)  See pg 40 of the manual. (SW yoke uses an A040236-01)

The picture above shows 042634-01 painted on the front frame. (the part that turns)

Front frame on Stun Runner and SW should be P/N A040247-01 (mine is painted on the inside under the spring)

The crosspiece looks different from the one shown on pg 39.

Hmm. . . . Curiouser and curiouser.

Some handles only had the two screw holes like your picture above shows, with no hole for the roll pin mentioned in the manual.  The screw holes are spaced the same on both versions.
