FEMALE MAMER'S????
« on: October 23, 2003, 02:50:43 pm »
 ???

I don't know if this has come up before...but has anyone EVER seen a post from a female who made their own mame cab?

....I don't figure there are any females out there interested enough to make one.

Maybe MAME is just reserved for us "old guys" clinging to our hair and youth (and yes I'm losing both; and yes I'm clinging to both).

Just wonderin'
The MameMaster! ???
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

My wife like's playing my MAME cabinet, but I agree--she would have never thought of making one.  In fact, she would have never thought of using the software in the first place.

I think women are more of the "take it as it comes" type.  If there were MAME cabinets for sale at SEARS, there might be some women interested in getting them.  But I think it's more a man's thing to build stuff and tinker around with stuff.

I totally agree......but you're luckier than I am. My wife "tolerates" my hobby (obession?); but other than that I can't get her near the thing (except the one that matters thank goodness * wink * * wink *  :o  )

Yeah, my significant other ::barely:: tolerates my obsession.   ::)

The weird thing is that everytime we are hanging out with someone who doesnt know I have a arcade machine, she wants me to talk about it!!  Wish she would make up her mind! ;D

You guys are doing better than I am.  I have all my recently ordered controllers stashed in my office at work.  A cabinet I am picking up for free on Sat is going to a friend's cabinet shop.  I know if I can get it built (with a trackball for centipede) and in the house I will be ok, but my initial probes about the idea were not well received.  I saw someone in the artwork section had a tshirt design with a sillouette of a cabinet with the words, "Your Going To Build A WHAT!"

Man, that was dead on!

Yeah I was going to say Paigeoliver as well, she's got heaps of cabs and seems to know quite a lot about MAME etc. She doesn't collect shoes though I think she collects WICO joysticks. She's like the Emelda Marcos of joysticks  ;) :P

She's been on chat for along time.  She pops in once and awhile.
She made a spinner out of legos, it's pretty cool.

I don't have that problem with my wife.  Her dream is something a little different than an arcade cabinet.  She owns a 72 plymouth berracuda that she worked on for a couple of months.  She can't wait till the day it gets finished. We just don't have the money to buy all the parts for it.  She spent 1100 dollars on parts 2 yrs ago, front grille, a small piece that goes under that and headers.  She hates shopping and if knew any better i would think she was a MAN! :o

The thought of me spending money on arcade parts really made her made. Until she found frogger and puzzle bobble. I don't think she would every want to build a cp or cabinet. But since i am going to do most of the building she'll be glad to enjoy the outcome.

Yea, Paige is a dude!  Althought, I guess we could have a Penny-Arcade John Romero style running joke.  Not sure how Paige would react to that though hehe.

One of my main goals with my Mame cabinet is to have it nice enough that the wife lets me keep it upstairs in the living room.  So far, she has agreed to that.  Yippee!  What a woman!

And here is some advice for some of you guys.  Don't keep track of how much you are spending.  If she finds out, she'll hit the roof!  And then she'll want to buy the equal amount of cloths and shoes.  Just buy a few parts here and a few parts there.

Don't forget Jaimie.

I think it was a combination of the name paige and the cutsie anime style avatar.
