How much is a nintendo cabinet worth
« on: October 10, 2012, 03:01:58 pm »
If all it needs is some bondo and a paint job.
Do you think they will be worth more when Fix It Felix comes out?
Someone is offering me one for 70 bucks thinking about picking it up. Don't necassarily need it. But I spent 530 dollars for my last Nintendo Cabinet that needed the same amount of work and I kind of want to make my money back...

Seems like if you can pick one up for 70 bucks it would be a good deal.  If it were me I would pick it up.

IMHO, nope.
I don't foresee a mass-crowd rushing to find a Nintendo cab to install an arcade-game-wanna-be that is highly inferior in game-play to any of the original Nintendo games.
If you flip this cab, you'll most likely sell it to someone wanting to restore an original game, (or Mame it...) rather than turn it into a dedicated Fix-it.

But at $70, even if you put a few hours of time into fixing it up, not to mention the material costs...how much do you think you could make of it?  No one's going to pay more than $200 for an empty cabinet, even if it's fully restored (at this point, it's just painted lumber). So after the initial cost, labour and supplies, you'd probably end up making $50-100 profit.

Doesn't seem worth the hassle, and you definitely won't make your money back from that other cab...

Agreed. I can only imagine demand going down the further we get from King of Kong.
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

Well most people besides maybe a select few would make a dedicated Fix-It Felix machine or even buy the cabinet to put the guts in, mainly because the game is on iPad and iPhone...you may have a few people who want it but the chances are slim.  :P

$70 is a good deal.  I paid $200 for an old DK cab that was turned into a WWF Superstars cab.  I am slowly getting it back to a DK, but it has been a lot of work and I had to do more than just bondo and paint it.

It all depend's is it fully gutted or does it have all the part's coin door with coin mech's , upper and lower marquee bracket, Monitor with bracket's , power supply with on and off toggle switch
If it had all these part's then it would be a steal for $70
