« on: August 17, 2012, 03:49:08 pm »
hey i have a toshiba crt tv that i want to us in my arcade machine don't know what model but it has a dvd player built into the bottom of the i have a few questions first i would like to have it act like an arcade monitor in the sense that the moment it receives power it comes on is there a way to rewire it to do so? secondly i wish to hide this screen behind tainted glass and would like to turn the colors up on the screen but the tv has no menu button and no remote what can i do?

first up, try this.  unplug the tv from power.  then hold the power button in and plug it in.  does it come on?  if so, while still holding the power button, unplug the tv, wait a few seconds and plug it back in while STILL holding the power button.  If it comes on, then it is a simple solder point to get it to work the way you want.

as for the remote, go buy a cheap universal programable remote

well before you go opening up a tv, you should do some reading on these boards, it can be very dangerous.

but basically, you want to find the small board that the power button pushes.  then it's a simple solder joint connecting the two points of the power button.

but AGAIN, DO NOT open the tv and start fiddling around until you've read up on it.

Got it wheres a good place to start?

search in the monitor forum for "discharging tube", you should come up with some walk thrus.  PLEASE, proceed with CAUTION and AT YOUR OWN RISK.

did you plan on using the tv in the arcade machine as is, meaning, you don't plan on removing it from its case?

decasing it is up to you.  if it will fit in your cab with the case, go for it.  tv's can be a complicated to dacase and to mount into a machine; the boards aren't in a neat metal chasis like arcade monitors.

but to get to the power button, you will need to open it up.
