How to set up a second screen
« on: July 22, 2012, 08:41:44 pm »
How do I set up a second screen so I can play music videos on my computer jukebox on a large TV instead of the regular monitor?

how do i get the information about your setup? You using some kind of software I'm guessing. I'm also guessing you have some kind of monitor plugged into that computer.

so I guess you would have to have another port to plug another monitor into then configure your software to display video on that monitor once a video is played.

I'm probably not helping much.

windows does 1 of 2 things when you have another monitor.

copies (Clones) the contents of the main monitor onto the 2nd monitor

or

extends the desktop to one side of the main monitor onto the second (extra wide/tall display)

unfortunately this doesn't help things at all. So unless your software (jukebox or mame or whatever since you didn't mention) supports playing fulscreen video on a secondary monitor, you aren't going to have an easy solution.

sorry...let me be more detailed...Im using a HP compaq DC 7700 and will be running a touchscreen with windows 7 for the jukebox....but I have many DVD's of videos that I would love to play using the computers DVD drive and run the video to a 36" CRT tv which is in 4:3 size and will work best with my DVDs...the only output I have on the computer is 1 VGA which goes to the touchscreen...How can I install another output, to run the video to the tv and keep the sound coming from the jukebox?

you will need to find a video card with dual outputs for what you are looking to do. It looks like the pc has a PCI-E slot that you can use. So in short

1) Purchase dual output PCI-E card
2) Install above into PC
3) Install drivers
4) Enjoy dual screen happiness
