HyperHQ trackball/spinner problem
« on: June 03, 2012, 12:10:28 pm »
Weird issue where I csnnot enable the trackball AND the spinner in HyperHQ.  If I enable the trackball and the enable the spinner, it removes the check mark from the enable trackball option.  If I enable the spinner and then the trackball, it disables the spinner.  it will not allow me to enable both.  Weird, right?

Also, I cannot get either the trackball or the spinner working in Mame when launched via Hyperspin.  If I launch the game in the MameUI they work fine.  When I launch them in Hyperspin they don't work.  Any ideas?

If memory serves me Hyperspin launches into mame and supercedes the mame.ini/controler configs with whatever is setup in HS.  You can turn off this function in the HS settings somewhere and that should fix that issue.  Somebody else had a similar issue recently and you should be able to pull the thread.

This is strange.  I edited the settings.ini file for Hyperspin and any changes there do not change the values in HyperHQ.  I have both the trackball and spinner enabled in the settigns.ini but only one will enable in HyperHQ.  Neither are working in Mame and only one (the last one that was enabled in HyperHQ) will work to control the wheels in Hyperspin.  This is frustrating.  I am going to lose HyperLaunch tonight for Mame and see if it helps.

I think I might just quit Hyperspin.  No idea why the trackball and spinner work when launched via MameUI but will not work when launched via Hyperspin.  I have fiddled with more .ini files in the last couple of days and have searched countless forums.  The "funny" thing is, this seems to be a common problem but I still can't get a solution that works for me.  I did turn of HyperLaunch for Mame and that solved my random blackscreen problem.

Control settings in HyperSpin have absolutely NOTHING to do with controls once the emulator has been launched.  If it's working in HyperSpin, but not in your emulator then there is some config you are missing within the EMULATOR settings.  The control settings in HyperHQ are specific to the Front End navigation, it doesn't have anything to do once the emulator has been launched.  I personally don't use Trackball or spinner in HyperSpin, but I fully tested the functionality of the controls within HyperSpin.

Disable HyperLaunch for MAME.  MAME is a native command line application and HyperLaunch is not necessary.  HyperLaunch enabled does disable the Q & S buttons from working by default as those keys are designated for a script function.

Are you using MAMEUI from within HyperSpin or just regular MAME?  MAMEUI sortta defeats the purpose of using a front end.  If you are using command line MAME then you probably need to make sure that you have these controls enabled in the MAME.ini located in your MAME folder.

This problem was resolved by replacing mameui with a command line version of mame.   Thanks Dazz
