Donkey Kong Project
« on: May 07, 2012, 08:32:58 pm »
Well I am finally into the forums and ready to share my project with everyone!  I already have a very good start to my project.  Considering I basically have the whole cab done!  I did a lot of research before I started this and thanks to Jakobuds plans, I got my cab built with hardl no problems at all.

I used 3/4" MDF Board that ended up costing me like $70 total.

I purchased a Original DK Board set off of eBay that was untested but very clean for $60.  It is a 4-Board set.

So basically thats as far as I am.  I have ordered some buttons that should be in soon.
I have also ordered some smoke plexi glass that will be in around the same time.

And I have also recreated/touched up vector artwork for the machine that I will print myself.

So basically Im still looking for a Joystick, Power supply,  Monitor, and possibly a coin door... oh yea. I'll have to buy a video inverter... and then probably a video converter so that it will work with a newer TV.

I'll be updating this with photos and news when parts come in/ get assembled!!!

If you are able to help in anyway with this project i.e. spare parts that would be appreciated. (I am on a tight budget) and I am a graphic designer so I would be able to help some people out by recreating some artwork for them (vector).  I will find out later where I should post saying that I can help people recreate artwork for them.  (And yes I will more than likely do it for free :)

Welcome to the forum! Great work so far. I have wanted to build a DK cabinet for quite some time, but got too many projects on the back log to even think about it right now.

I know how your feel!  I have a lot of friends wanting logos, motion graphics, and all sorts of things made for them... along with creating labels, 6packs, logos, posters and what not for my "Brewery".  I put that in quotes b/c its not real right now... but maybe someday :)

Awesome work. That nintendo style cab is one of my favorites. You did an awesome job on the speaker grill section.
