37 inch LCD showcase cab
« on: April 19, 2012, 08:36:54 am »
First build and I have to go big!

I'm doing a 4 player cab with 37 inch lcd plus surround sound!

My god it's a lot to take on....

:dunno I was wondering, if I made it more boxy would I lose creativity points>? :dunno

I'm kinda rushed for time so I have to just build this thing as we are moving in a about 4 months.

I haven't seen anyone do surround sound on this site. I know your thinking that no arcade games we're in surround

but, I'm doing Mame and other emulators. The other emulators used surround sound. So that's my excuse/point.

Gonna be crazy! :dizzy:

Good luck on your first build.  Boxy is not always bad. :)  Just have fun with it and don't rush too much cause that's when mistakes are made.  :banghead:

Not sure I've ever seen a surround sound cabinet.  Would it have speakers behind it? Or just lots of speakers up front? :)  Sounds cool.

Probably be a better idea to build it after you move... Moving big things isn't very much fun.

I'm with PBJ, if you're going with a 4p and a big ass screen you should do a pedestal.  We don't award points but if you want the secret decoder ring you'll need a few curves in there.

to answer so questions... ???

I"m building the surround sound with arches that will come from the top of the cab.

SO if you can envision arches going to the rear with full ranger speakers on the side of the cab.

Plus a subwoffer in the middle where the podium is.

Yes it will be a showcase cab. No I don't wanna wall mount it... Be to easy then...

I'm making everything bolt on and in 6 pieces. :blah:

I"m trying to find a good front end loader that's graphical and partical.

I want hyperspin but it's getting to be a pain in the butt programing it.

Thanks for all the help and suggestion...

Don't worry, it gets really easy once you really figure out what's going on.  It's a bit overwhelming at first, but it's worth the effort.

Yeah, Once you give up on finding a fully working copy with everything included and invest a few days of hate into it, it really is quite a pleasure to work with.  :laugh2:

It does end up being something you are proud of when it's all said and done. :)
