Saw that San Antonio had a tornado so just checking if PBJ and anyone else in the BYOAC community that lives in the area is ok.

Just checked the official Evil Scientist handbook and tornadoes was put on the conventional weapon list late last year. However Girl Scouts still have not been added despite my petition so you may want to watch out. It's Girl Scout cookie season.

If you're American it's synonymous with ugly, if you're European it's a non topic because everyone is.

I'm frighteningly handsome myself.  Sometimes I look in the mirror to comb my hair and get distracted for hours.  "Who's that handsome stranger in my bathroom?"   8)

I'm not fat myself, can't speak for pbj... then again I'm not one of these creepy little wisps of a man either... if you are a full grown man and weigh under 200 lbs then you better be a little person because if you aren't then you are actually female.  ;)

As for the big three, I guess I'm stronger than most school children and women, does that count?  I'm most assuredly polite, and if you don't think so I'll be glad to cuss you out over it.  ;)  As for hairy, if being hairy is considered ugly then I don't wanna be pretty.  Again... no hair just means you are female, unless you are in europe, then it just means you are from out of town.  ;)

You've got it all mixed up. It's not by country, it's a regional thing. Think North California vs South California. Hollywood vs. rednecks, which do think pronounces Rodeo Drive correctly?

Honest to God, up until I moved South, I never saw a man put on makeup unless it was in the theatre or at Hot Topics. Now I see it all the time.  :puke

Maybe it's a sexual preference thing?  I mean you are talking southern CA.  I'm just saying, I don't shave my body, but then again I don't want to sleep with men.

But I've said too much... no need to get this thing sent to P&R.

I wouldn't go that far, put people, in general, especially men, are sheep.  All it takes is one gay man to shave his body and a couple of women flirting with him and at least 5 straight men think about doing it.  Move to a location like Hollywood or SanFran and you are officially in enemy territory.  You might be converted!  Not to being gay of course but to LOOKING like you are gay.  I was just teasing anyway.  ;)

There's a bumper sticker:

"Yes, this is my truck, and no, I will not help you move"

http://www.zazzle.com/yes_this_is_my_truck_no_i_wont_help_you_move_bumper_sticker-128339761362687932

I so needed that when I had a truck.

the thing that gets me is my wife volunteers me to fix peoples computers for them.

1: I hate fixing other peoples messes.
2: I hate having to fix other peoples messes.
3: I hate other peoples messes I have to fix.
4: I hate messes that are other peoples i have to fix.

and I always get the call later saying wheres this program and where's that file and i can't find this...I DON'T KNOW! IT'S YOUR GARBAGE DUMP, YOU FIND IT! I just fixed your crappy MSN messenger program! I didn't do ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- with your files.

sometimes i think people get other people to fix their computers so they have someone to blame for all the files they lost. OMG I DELETED ALL THESE FILES... uhm can you fix this...YOU DELETED ALL MY FILES I WANT THEM BACK!

For the most part the people I work on are pretty nice when it comes to saying calm and not playing the blame game.  What pisses me off is the fact that nobody seems to be able to do what I tell them to.

"Why is my computer so slow?"
"Because you installed this program on it and your computer can't handle it.  Not only that but you have it set to run at startup."
"But I really like that program!"
"Then buy a new computer.... in the mean time I'm uninstalling it."

I'm lucky if it's two weeks before I get a call that the computer is acting up again and you guessed it... they reinstalled the same damn program on it.

People are notorously bad about this when it comes to anti-virus programs.  I'll come to their house, they'll have some nasty virus and the reason is because their av software is crap or non-existant. Or their computer will be really slow because it's older and they have the latest version of Norton on it or something.  I'll install avg or something good on there, fix the computer up and a week later I get the call.  It's got a virus again because they've uninstalled the av software I put on their in favor of the one their third cousin picked up for them at Walmart.  Now who knows better?  A qualified service technician or your idiot cousin?

Even worse they sometimes don't have sense enough to uninstall avg when they put theirs on, so sometimes it isn't even a virus, it's jsut two av programs hogging all the resources and fighting to the death for control.

When it comes to computer service it isn't a democracy, it's a HAC-tatorship!

Whenever I work on someone's computer, I run a scan of their "My Documents" folder. That way, I can learn what their kinks are right away.  >:D

I stopped doing that. Now I just delete that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- and don't look back.

For a long time I sincerely thought I could leverage what I found on the HDD. Even if they've got something I could leverage it doesn't make up for the horrors I've seen. Don't ask why. It's rather horrifying.

I drew the line on fixing peoples' computers years ago.  I did it as a side job, like so many of us, for a couple years in college.  Made a little cash but as soon as people I *knew* found out they all wanted it done as a favor.  Did that for a while until I had to start telling them "would you ask me to fix your car if I was a mechanic?"  I finally totally drew the line on friend/family repairs when people clearly started lying to me.

Your machine won't boot at all.  Have you opened it up?
"No, never, not at all."
The warranty sticker on the case is ripped.  It has been opened up.
"Not me, must have come that way from the store."
I found a cheeto inside the case.
"No idea."
So you didn't open the case?  The hard drive is unplugged.  This machine never operated this way.  Never.
"Yeah, it did, for a year."
Sooo... at what store did you buy it?
"I bought it from a guy down the street."
You just said it must have come like this from a store.
"I did?"
Yes.
"So can you fix it or not?"
Yes.  But you can pick it up tomorrow because I'm not going to do so.
"What?  Why not?"
Because you keep lying to me.
"WTF dude... you are such an ---uvula---... what is your problem?!"

...and that was family.  I won't even talk about the level of lifetime support expected on a free repair.

I was a heavy duty diesel mechanic for a number of years (been 2 years since I've earned a paycheck doing that sort of thing). I actually get slightly offended when family/friends don't bring their vehicles to me before taking them into a shop... $30,000 invested in tools and a box, I love it whenever I get a chance to use them as long as my ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---'s not what's broken down. But my wife whores me out to her coworkers and people I hardly know and that irritates me.

That's what gets me too...I don't mind fixing a PC for a friend...but then I'm 4ever their go-to person if "anything" ever happens again. (I still say yes sometimes...cuz I'm a sucker)

I gave an old PC to my former college roomate, who didn't have one. I swear she could not listen and still expected me to fix it every time she messed it up.

I donated all my old PC parts to charity years ago and no longer build freebies for folks.

I actually get slightly offended when family/friends don't bring their vehicles to me before taking them into a shop...

Yup, free labor. It's not too hard to find time to help out a friend or family member.

Good job.  I used to be like that.  Nobody ever returns the favor, though.   :P
