Yeah, SavannahLion is right. I went from "No way in Hell" to having TWO cabinets in my family room. The second one just "showed up" in the backyard one day.

Does anybody else have trouble separating the picture on the left from the advice on the right. When SavannahLion is giving advice about drinking, sex, and forgiveness I can't help imagining that little anime girl saying it and then I feel all creepy. That's why I'm glad Ark changed his, I got tired of Spock being such a tool. HA!

Just tell her you only want one room and she can decorate the rest of the house how she likes. That's what I did and now (3 years later) I have 7 arcades and a pinball. I just get them one by one.

Everyone always tells her she is a very patient wife, but every now I see her playing ms pacman on the cocktail arcade. : )

Besides, they are the biggest hit at every party we have. People end up hanging out right around all the games.

Game seems priced a bit low if it really works right. Those things tend to be problematic and can sell for a lot more. That makes that more of a snap it up right away purchase than a try to bargain it down purchase.

So I was given the OK by the wife to offer the guy up to $125 for the arcade *FINALLY*! Of course I email the guy, and he shoots me one back "I just sold it for $150..."

She said she feels bad now, cause there was plenty of time that she could of gave in sooner. Oh well, they come and go, but not usually at prices like that.

J/K man, I'd don't CL poach. I feel your pain....that same sort of thing just happened to me with a Pachinko machine I wanted. Probably if I threw down my offer an hour earlier I would have gotten it.

Fortunately for you Vigo, living near the cities, arcades are like ---uvulas---. Things are a bit more slim pickings here in southern MN. If and when they do pop up, they don't last long.

People always say "machines are rare here" ... until they find out that they aren't.

FWIW, if spousal approval is important (and I say that without disrespect to spouses ... I am lucky that Mrs Cheffo is very supportive of my hobby ... so long as the machines don't start creeping out of the basement and so long as I stay in the basement), then you need to have a preapproval so that you can actually jump on things. This listing lasted over a week, so it did last long.

Its not so much that they are rare, they just don't go up for sale as often as larger city centers. I'm sure there are many other arcade owners in the area(stingy ones

).

You would be surprised ... I live in the largest city in Canada and have contacts out the ying-yang. More cabinets become available in smaller markets than are here.

Just ask FrizzleFried ... and then go get preapproval for your next cab purchase!

Well, yeah. I know when I started into the hobby, I was in WI, and anything I wanted involved a 2+ hour drive and borrowing a van. At least gas was much cheaper back then. I was scouring quite a large radius for what I wanted, and was in college so I could take off any day of the week. That always helped.

Just thought I would update this post... The reason why the game was sold was cause my wife BOUGHT IT FOR MY BIRTHDAY! Shes been hiding it over at a friends for 2 months now! Sneaky woman! Thing is, its not even my birthday yet, she couldn't wait 9 more days

The game works, ~~theres an issue with the sound I have yet to figure out...~~ (fixed it, ~~there was a loose connection on the aux power supply~~ there was a blown fuse) and after calibrating the guns(which are basically joysticks) I found out why I was missing so much, the player one gun has a dead spot, i'll have to replace the X and Y variable resistors. Good thing gun 2 works perfect, I got high score with 56% accuracy!

EDIT: sorry about there being absolutely no mention about what game it was, haha! It was an Operation Thunderbolt!

As for the pinball machines, well here in SA you don't get them no more, and if you do, it will cost you a arm and a leg.

I must also try the beer trick instead of paying more with money.

OK. You know what she did right there? She just screwed you over, big time. Now you better make damn sure you top that kind of gift for her birthday or else she'll be asking for massages and you'll go without playing with that joystick.
