Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons
« on: February 12, 2012, 06:04:10 am »
Now I'm not a huge fan of The Simpsons but I'll certainly be waiting for Episode 499, which I believe is being aired in the US today.

Apparently there has been some talk of Groundskeeper Willie's birthplace and in this episode he confesses to being born in my hometown Kirkwall in Orkney. Maybe not big news to most of you but to a small island community like ours it's BIG news  :)

Unfortunately we'll have to wait a couple of months til we get the chance to see it  ::)

Groundskeeper Willie has said he is from different places at different times in the show.  He seems to be a bit off in the head maybe.  I'll probably catch this episode - I'll let you know what he says this time.

Bit off topic but if you want your eyes to fall out.

"To promote the 500th episode milestone, the Fox network, which airs The Simpsons, will arrange a non-stop marathon screening of all the show's episodes with the intent of breaking the Guinness World Record for longest continuous television viewing."

I think that happened already - if I read correctly that is - and the winner lasted 86 hours (meaning they made it to around season five).

The Simpsons has been moderately amusing lately, I've thought.

Agreed. Still think the show is amusing enough to be worth watching - even if not on par with the golden age.
