Maybe. Though, we actually got to see the other side of the portal, and it wasn't exactly teeming with bad guys.
The mother ship was still letting those "worm" things out, who knows how many more of them were still coming....

Side note, the Asgardians are still "Gods" in the Movie.  Thor gives an explanation that humans can understand about science but they are still gods.  The thing to remember is that Gods in the marvel universe are just powerful beings.  You can't think of the Christian god and Marvels gods in the same sentence.  None of Marvels gods created the universe so there's a huge gap in power on that level.  The only things in the Marvel universe that can come close to a god like Christianities would be either the Cosmic Entities or someone with the Infinity Gauntlet.  In DC there IS an actual God like figure that represents closely what Christians follow.  His avatar, the specter, is ridiculously powerful.
When does Thor explain that?

I remember running through the Skrulls in Marvel Ultimate Alliance by myself. I think its ok to have Black Widow out there kickin some ass, its not like was Dazzler or Jubilee

My comic book knowledge is pretty much all from the games, cartoons, and movies; I was never much into the comic books themselves. Well the only exception to that was I did actually owned a few Punisher comics, but he wasnt flying around throwing shields or shooting laser beams, he was just a ---tallywhacker--- killing bad guy ---punks---, and I respect that.

I enjoyed the movie, but I must say I'm getting tired of every comic book adaption ending in a Battle Royale. Wouldn't it be nice if there were an imaginative ending?

Movie had some great comic (as in funny) moments. And I always get a kick out of spotting Stan Lee in the Marvel movies (",)

3.5/5 from me.

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - The Way Back, The Kings Speech, Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me, Watchmen, The girl with the dragon tattoo

4/5 - True Grit, Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

It's not all that dirty a secret that we don't have 200,000 soldiers sitting on benches waiting for orders to get up and run to a specific place.

That's what you think.  I've been in this hangar for hours and they don't even have cushions on the folding chairs.  Those aliens had better hurry the ---fudgesicle--- up because ---my bottom--- is getting numb.

I thought Nick Fury was white?

In the Ultimates universe (which is a series of books based on an alternate universe than standard Marvel universe) Nick Fury is black and looks just like Sam Jackson. For whatever reason, all of the movies keep mixing both regular Marvel and Ultimates. Like the directors never read a comic and grabbed a bunch at random and read them, then drew their story and origins based off of what they read. I personally am not a fan of the Ultimates, but I had no problem with them using Ultimate Nick Fury.

Well, I broke my vow after Fandango did some $6 tickets promotion and I could use them at an Alamo Drafthouse.

I think every single joke in this movie came down to AWKWARD!!!! Meh.

What the hell was her super power?  Randomly firing tiny handguns?  Those things wouldn't drop a teenage thug prowling a gated neighborhood, much less penetrate alien armor or whatever.

I thought Nick Fury was white?

Loved how the characters had magic telepathy that enabled them to talk to each other over vast distances with tons of noise.

Anyway, it was dumb and loud.  I enjoyed it.  Probably what this bitter ------- needed.  My wife liked it a lot, but she liked Spider-Man 3 so she's suspect.

#1 Please explain?
#2 High tech handguns and high tech bullets. Also the electric shock "widow bite" bracelets.
#3 Ultimates Nick Fury is based on Samuel L. Jackson. The older comics version was white.
#4 Its called communication earpieces......

It was dumb and loud? Can I take a vote? All the people who got it to over $1 billion raise your hand if you though it was dumb and loud.  :lol

EDIT: $6 for a ticket? That's nothing, Imax is almost $13 a ticket!!

It's basic comic knowledge but if you're ONLY looking at the movies, it's inferred from Thor's movie with entitlement and classes.

Well the movies are their own universe, like the classic, ultimates or any of the other comic universes.
So I think they should be looked at as their own.

In Thor, Darcy says how vikings worshiped them as deities, Odin said mankind believed certain worlds were home to their gods and when Dr. Selvig was drunk he said Thor ought to be the god of thunder.

They basically say how people thought them to be gods, but they are more or less just super advanced powerful aliens.

In The Avengers Loki told Hulk he was a god, Hulk proved him wrong, Loki called himself a god a few times, when Thor was thrown from the helicarrier Nick Fury said they lost god, Tony Stark called Thor a demigod and when Thor took the Tesseract the counsel told Fury it wasn't his call and he told them he didn't argue with the god that made the call.

Maybe a few other spots in The Avengers it was used but not in Thor, got them all there.
No one question me on that, I have seen Thor enough times I could write the script and screenplay here.  :laugh2:

;D That was awesome. I only read the enormous "Content" run-on sentence, but that in and of itself was probably the best movie review ever written. The film was, unquestionably, redemptive.

You're basically saying what I said.  They are Gods because of how people worshiped them.  I think they explained themselves differently so the humans in the story could better understand it but it doesn't make them any less of a god for it.  Does a God see themself as a god?  Perhaps once they find people worshiping them which the Asgardians had.  Additionally, hulk whooping down on Loki is more relegated to the Hulk being just about the most powerful being on earth aside from the Sentry.  The only person besides the Sentry that can go toe to toe with the Hulk is Thor, and even then when it's an all out brawl common knowledge is the Hulk comes out on top.  Unless we're talking Odin Force before resurrecting Asgard, or Planet Hulk/World War Hulk, etc.

Scarlett's terrible and has a gigantic ass even under 3 layers of spanx and I'm sure starving herself for 6 months prior.  What the hell was her super power?
You said this line as though you were complaining.

Can someone clarify what the hell he is talking about?  Are you leaning more to the hulks shirtless muscles????

Seems like they could embed captions in the video and then have it only display if you were wearing special glasses.

Those Google Project Glass augmented reality glasses! What a great idea. I ought to patent it. You don't need anything special embedded into the video. Just download the official subs to your augmented reality glasses and it'll overlay the appropriate text over the video.

Looks like someone is working on a variation on this idea.  Pretty cool.

So I saw this last night. god I love having a 50" screen at home. I didn't care for going to the theatre anyways. Now I may never ever.

Yeah, there was lots that just happened. Like, as the rainbow bridge is gone, how did Thor get there?  I'm not raising a discussion on that, I'm just referencing it.

So, for some strange reason, I was excited to see this movie. Despite some technical issues and all. If I were 12, and it was Saturday night, and I had a killer home theater an all, I'd be stoked. That's the mind set I was in. And I'd overlook the goofinesses, as I often did at that age watching things like Mighty Orbots, because the rest was cool enough to get immersed in. I totally would've loved for there to be movies of this graphic quality an all back then. I DID want them, and I spent a lot of time imagining them in their stead.

Would it be WAY cooler if they made movies out of things like The Forge of God, and The Reality Dysfunction or The Commonwealth Saga, let alone Hyperion? Indeed.

But in the mean time.....
