Its only letting me load one picture at a time, and some of the files are still to big. I'll have to change the size on some of these.

Looking good! I love Castlevania. I had the first one for NES years ago, never could get past Dracula on the very last level.

Here you get an idea of what I'm trying to do with the marquee. The marquee art fits together with the panel art to make up one picture.

WOW! I can't say that I understand how the theme really fits with an arcade pedestal set up for fighting games (don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy for the NES), the execution is excellent. It really looks great.

I'm just a huge fan of the series. Especialy the original trilogy! I even thought about doing somthing with the box art for the sides. Maybe Simonsquest on one and draculas curse on the other (Tweeking it a little of coarse to give a more up to date feel).  I'm not sure yet. Thanks for the kind words!

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures that will help you out much. My plan was to take the time and take lots of pics, but when I got going I'd forget to stop in between stages. I've actually built two of these style pedestals. One for a friend of mine. His has a different theme though! Just let me know if you have any questions.

Looks great! Love the castlevania theme.

Just curious, what's holding down the plexiglass, just the buttons?

I did that on one panel and it still lifted really easily around the edges, even with the tmolding in place and slightly overlapping.

I love the idea of how you displayed the marquee. I am currently building a showcase style cabinet but using a LCD TV on the wall for the monitor, so I thought I wasn't going to have a marquee, now I can!

One question do you plan to light up the marquee?

Yes on the marquee lighting up. In post/reply #9 you can see the led that will light it up. I'm also adding two RGB leds next to what you see there. Reason being that when I fired it up, it didn't seem bright enough!

The way I see it, outside of us(everyone on the forums), people really don't understand the differences and histories behind arcades and consoles.

I can't think of a single friend of mine that would see this Castlevania pedestal and ever think anything but AWESOME.  The generic artwork that goes back 8 years and seems so cliche to me is "totally freaking amazing" to my buddies.

I mean the really really old overlay with the lightning in the middle going out.  The designs I remember when I was in college and bush was serving his first term.

The stuff that was first created and repeated time and time again.  The knievel remakes that you would never do because you want a unique arcade would seem like the most amazing thing since sliced bread to average people.

This guys work is some bad ass custom stuff.  I mentioned his saying the castlevania theme works since only the people on this forum would think you need a fighting overlay for a pedestal stand.

Themes matching cabinet style are only important to other builders perusing the threads.  If it looks good to you go with it.

I guess I didn't put my words down right the first time.

So... the artwork is blah but you're non arcade savy friends would totally dig it?  Gee GG, that's one helluva compliment there.  Tell us what you really think.  :laugh2:

Ahh, that generic artwork. It's funny, my first cab has that same design you're referring to. LOL

Everybody's did.  We should poll that, I'm guessing greater than 75% of the community has used that stuff at one point or another.

I'm working on those right now. I just about had them done, and found your threads on drilling the holes in the buttons. :banghead: Such a cool idea I had to do it. Love your work btw!

Looks great! Love the castlevania theme.

Just curious, what's holding down the plexiglass, just the buttons?

I did that on one panel and it still lifted really easily around the edges, even with the tmolding in place and slightly overlapping.
Update: I came up with a simple solution for holding down the plexi in the front "Hot glue". What I did was took my t-molding off, and just put a bead of hot glue where the plexi and MDF meet. Use a putty knife as your applying it to strike it off and you're good to go! Worked for me. You may have to clean up the edge when done.

I used some small black carriage bolts which also worked well. It depnds on whether you want to have a bunch of carriage bolt heads showing or not.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, but i'm trying to figure out how to hook up/power all three of my LEDWIZs at the moment! But on a positive note, all of my buttons/controls are working! I would post some pics of the wiring, but mine is nothing to get excited about! It really just looks like a tangled mess! Ha Ha!

Nice to see you were able to tackle the issues you were having with your LEDWhizs and LEDBlinky! :applaud:

Will all your LEDs be lit during game play? Or will you only have the active buttons lit? If so, will you be using colors.ini?

Yeah, I'll only have the active buttons lit during game play. Yes on the colors ini. What did you end up doing with yours?

The same. Only active buttons lit, using colors.ini to match original button colors per game, and using my layout to mimic as close as possible the original layouts of each game. Games that aren't listed in colors.ini I set using the defaults in LEDBlinky. I set my default color to "black" in LEDBlinky, it looks nice with my button combinations. I also modified colors.ini for games that had their start buttons as white, I changed them to "black". I wish LEDBlinky would allow you to have different default colors for each player instead of only having one default color.

Do something about those wires dangling off your TV.  Maybe paint a piece of pipe that same blue and drop them through that?

Very nice and definitely the way of the future for this hobby.

Yeah, sorry about that! I'm getting a different TV this week, so I'll be drilling a hole in the wall to drop them through.

Did this ever come to fruition.  I'll be honest here, I want to build a clone of your pedestal cabinet.  All I need is sizes and dimensions and I think I should be good to go.  It would be much much appreciated!!! Oh, and the CP layout!  Pretty sure I want to duplicate that too!
