So I can put that hard drive in another tower? Do I pull the existing HD out first or make the pga HD a slave? I always thought you had to have a HD that was with the 'right" mother board. Ie they are linked somehow.

hi

dirt
as i explained
the hercules module does not chk the mobo
olny the video card
hence the reason for this full thread
olny gobal vr chk's for the i/o board
then a sub proggie in hercules look's for the donggle >window's-mode-winxpe<
which is easy to wipe out so we can toss the darn thing...>it is a pain in the butt<

there is a wack of cab rework i did for these that takes the power away fron 90% of the putter, they run cold
i will post the 37 pin out if u want it?
i know cvn53 dose
so it's a no brainer
all u are doing is using the aux p's that is used for the stacker/coin-door-light's
u tie in the 5 volt's for the track ball to it
and call the intenal plug to the i/o board night night <<+5/+12v>>
guess what
heat is gone
rel factor goe's through the roof

yes as i said i have used any good mobo
it's the video card, that is the snag
nvidia has come to the table and has given me the nessary info
so we can play :):)

all dll's are in it
i am trying to get them to the table so i can give there ftp addy

with a bigger HD you can unlock and load all the additional content easily. Installing XP SP3 is getting around the limited functionality of the striped down XP that the game originally shipped with.

basically you load a drive with XP sp3 then install the PGA game.

originally you installed the "OS" (XPe) then when the OS booted a program requested the "data" disks AKA the PGA game itself.

Ed is modifying the program so that:

1: you can use any hardware
2: replace the videocard with a more reliable nvidia one
3: modify the game and set up a server on his end so you can play online again.
4:unlock and load all the additional player/items etc.
5: remove the need for a security dongle

he is currently working on #2 and #3. almost everything else is done.

Hi lilshawn

Thanks for clearing up my confusion, loading up xp sp3 on 120 gig hd,no need to do updates or anti virus,if your not going to be on line correct.

Thanks CVN53

hi
lilshawn

u have explained it clearly as it can get

i could not find my old mirc bot
so i pulled in a new 1
just about ready to link to my g drive
now rem ppl i have not ran irc in 10-12 year's,suck's to me i know
but i will get back up to speed fast
the reason for the irc is so i can file transfer to u
and then u guy's can link in and play to your heart's content
and or up-load/down-load what u want need >file's/up-date's/etc
just do not abuse it......
most of u will be mod's
i will be the over all admin
mod's have the acess they will need to the bot..up-load/down-load/play real time
or fiq out what is wrong by the txt's/file-section +plus u can chat real time and get an answer..:):):)
i will post u the mirc addy soon enough

This sounds good. So at this point are we waiting for one big download with step by step instructions or did I miss a step somewhere? I would like to start unlocking content if possible and get PGA running in another tower versus the original computer it came in once that's ready.

I guess I don't understand where I'm supposed to start? Any help would be appreciated!

hi

    gobal-vr-pga
A small readme of what u can and cannot do at this time

first let me explain that i tend to talk in tech term's
forgetting alot of ppl are not trained in electronic's to my skill level
so forgive me there

1 u can replace  the old motherboard <<<see note
2 u can add ram to the old 1
3 u can increase the hard drive size
4 u can swap the hard drive to a sata if u want
5 u can through out the dial up modem,if your's is equiped
6 u can up-grade the powersupply if u so want
7 u can start it with a keyboard and mouse
8 u can get it to go to window's and tie into the internet, using the internal lan

what u CAN NOT DO

1 replace the video card
2 replace the motherboard with a pcie slot,it must match your video card
4 use the machine without it's donggle
5 use the machine without it's i/o card

what i have been coding into

1 to open all windowsxp to sp3,so u can use a newer pcie type video card
2 kill the donggle,i hate it
3 set up the full turnnie feature

*note* there is a loading part of the program called
hercules,it chk's for a nvidia older style video card
and it must be there, because u cannot load all the nessary dll's/oxc's
without having a handle on code

i truly hope this clear's up and confusin caused

ed

side note here
off topic
lilshawn
u get your ict firmware update ?
if not pm me

Hi Ed,
That is as clear as it comes mate thx for that. As usual will be waiting eagerly to get the tournament up
n running. I didn't see as a part of ur list the unlocking of players items courses etc but I'm sure that's on ur list of things to do.
Once again thx for all ur hard work Ed just ask if we can help in OZ in anyway.
Thx Spitfire

Thanks for the update.  Here is what I'm wondering at this point (my questions/comments are in BOLD)

1 u can replace  the old motherboard <<<see note (is there a specific recommendation or model for an easy swap out of the mobo?)
2 u can add ram to the old 1 (am I simply replacing the 512mb with a 1gb or do I add another 512mb to an open slot?)
3 u can increase the hard drive size (once the HD is replaced am I just running the install disks for PGA and swapping it out with the old drive?)
4 u can swap the hard drive to a sata if u want
5 u can through out the dial up modem,if your's is equiped
6 u can up-grade the powersupply if u so want (would there be any huge advantage to upgrading the power supply?)
7 u can start it with a keyboard and mouse (what scenario would cause me to want to start it with a keyboard and mouse?)
8 u can get it to go to window's and tie into the internet, using the internal lan (how do I do this and what are the steps for getting online for tourney action?)

what u CAN NOT DO

1 replace the video card (so if my video card goes I have to find an exact duplicate card in order to play?)
2 replace the motherboard with a pcie slot,it must match your video card (I must find a duplicate mother board as well?)
4 use the machine without it's donggle (thank you for looking for a work around for the dongle...I hate it as well)
5 use the machine without it's i/o card (not sure what this is.  Is it the control panel interface?)

what i have been coding into

1 to open all windowsxp to sp3,so u can use a newer pcie type video card (awesome!)
2 kill the donggle,i hate it (good times!)
3 set up the full turnnie feature (this is HUGE!!!!)

My final question is unlocking courses, players, and player attributes.  Is this something that I can currently do?  I've read every page on here and it seems like some of this is already possible but I'm not quite clear on how to actually make the proper changes to unlock items.  I'm fairly familiar with computers but when it comes to coding and changing bios I'm a rookie.  I appreciate everyone's input and help here (especially ED!!!!) but I think I need an "Idiots Guide to Unlocking Your PGA" lol!  I'm so excited about everything I am reading but I'm also a little disappointed and intimidated because I'm not quite sure how to do any of this yet.  Once I get this down I will make it a point to know it like the back of my hand so I can contribute to this thread by helping others that will be in my shoes at some point.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Ed,

Any updates.  I'm dying to try to unlock the full potential of my PGA.

Having a big party next weekend and would love to have the ability to play all the courses and choose from all the players.

Thanks,

hi
a fast update
the bot is ready
it's name is pga
it will carry all file's everyone need's
even a special treat for the video card ppl
there is a file i have not loaded to it yet
that allows u to un-lock all of the pga-vr with the player's or operater's card...
dirt's problem solved
my time is the tie up
i have been and will be on the road all weekend and up to tuesday
i will try to finish the irc up then
it look's like we will be going into :irc-ice-network:
channel is the thread's name sake ie gobalvr
every person must be invited in by the bot
so i will need to know your irc nick before hand
or u will need to private chat me in the irc
there is no real reason to up-date here at this point
as i pointed out the file's are to large for beening posted here
i can give u a better run down ltr

Can someone let me know if I can replace my 512mb ram with a 1g or do I need to plug in another 512 in the second slot.  The guts of my computer are so packed in that I would have to take it all apart it seems to access that second slot so I'm hoping I can just unplug the 512 and replace with a 1gb.  If anyone has a suggestion of a great buy for memory that compatible that would be greatly appreciated as well!

I would like to get involved with this chat hosted by Ed when it starts.  I have a bunch of questions that I know he can answer for me but I thought I would get this one out of the way first so I can play without long load times and choppiness during play.

Thanks!

hi
ok i chose mirc because u can file transfer without any porblem's >no secert trick's here< u just type !pga in the channel bar  and then go to the list then type !>>name<<
download time is fully depended on your internet connection
where i run full speed un-capped,u may run capped..i can not help this
i just sent kchad a msg telling him i own my irc copy and am waiting a reply for my key..
To the q on free >yes< it is free..the nag u get just means the test time is running out..at very least u can remove it .>win32< and reload a older verison
where it will stick for u..i had just bought my key in 1998 or 2000 either
so i have a life time thingy going here
but really 20.00 buck's to get the file's u need/want,
god call gobal vr expect your cc to b hit with 125.00 + dollar's
and try to get video card support/mobo board support/ram support/code-up-date's
good luck
all is well with >pga-bot<
i will be from the look's of it going into irc:icenet:
i will post the exact addy

Sounds good, Ed!

So all the the files/programs you've been working on are all set and we are just waiting for you to get your key for mirc in order to file share? Just making sure I understand this correctly.

How large are your files? Are the files something that I could transfer to someone else via Dropbox if I needed to in the future? I'm not familiar with mirc at all...never used it before but Dropbox has been an easy way for me to share files in the past.

Again, thanks for all your efforts!!! :applaud:

plus u get a shot at talking to me 1-on-1
thats a give me
and or any other person with interest in pga or what ever a shot to chat real time
i am NOT by any-means banging this fine fourm
but there is so much to know with these pga's that real time >lim on my end<
and not the bot as it will be 24-7 is in order

if your ftp can handle 280+ meg

hi
ppl i have a snibbet of word's here for ya
if your main fan's have failed..>collged/etc<,then please please
consider a recap kit for the mobo, and also some silcon lube for the mirco
it will do a world of good for u,the cap's can be replaced with a good high quailty
12/16v cap even though they say 6/10,there is olny 2 to watch out for
and they are at the 3.3volt req,try to keep them within there stated range
reason i am posting this is because i have done all my pga's now with the last 1 on my right waiting for it's cap's
if u follow my advice your board will love u

it's always advised if you change the caps on a motherboard to up the voltage if you can.

6.3 volt caps can be changed out for 10 volt caps...16volt if they will still fit.

the uf must stay the same (or close to)

you can buy lots of 25 nichicon 1000uf 10 volt caps for $12 with free shipping off ebay

hi
ok i made my way into what i am leading to
the mirc channel u will join >pga< will be hosted from a new box i am building tonight
i do this for personal reason's,IE to many hoof-ban's etc, which i will NOT allow
unless u are not reged into the bot, this is wide ban
so yes u can game and link,if u are not reged into >pga<>bot< expect a hoof
if u rehook with out regersitng expect a hoof ban..ie i will ban the addy
or rather the bot will
cussing i really do not care for but if u must then so be it
talking another nick down open channel or out right fighting bring's u back to rule a
hoof 20 min's second 20 day's third ban total
as it MY server i need to set these rule's
frendliy playing about golf or what ever i care less about
so if someone make's a hole or u miss it,i know freg'darn etc but u can use explict's
i am building the box tonight
keep your eye on this fourm for the irc
and please pm me or e-me with the nick u want
as i have to per set it
the bot is set with a hot trigger
the box it is in is a p4/2 gig of ram/500gig harddrive
more then enough head room to dl/play live
winxp sp3 with a fire wall so i do not expect trogan's/malware
that part i will work out
as i am booking my self  off most of this week
i cannot see the problem with getting-er-done
thk-u all for waiting

Ed, unfortunately you are speaking in a tech language that is far beyond my comprehension.  I reread your post a few times and I just am not getting it.  Can someone please take a moment to explain what is going on in the simplest of terms.  I appreciate your hard work Ed and I don't want to miss out on something because I didn't understand.  Maybe I need a decoder ring so I don't slow this thread down!  ;)

hi
no stpcore
u do not need a decorder ring
this thread started out with me asking for help on gobal vr's pga golf
more specificaly the video card issuie..
i could not get the answer's i need to swap out the video card's,
so i took it up-on my-self to talk to gobal vr and obtain a NDA
to which i can with there perrismion tear down there s/w and fix it
so we can use different video card's
welp as a public fourm will have it
it took off, with me helping alot of ppl getting there pga's back up and running,
ok to that..now we have player card problem's/donggle's/mobo's/internet/powersupply/dial-up modem's/the list is long
so i went to make a rescuse disk to just about fit any need's
never ever did i intened for this thread to run this deep
but as u can see i have been posting >code<,to back up my big mouth
the read me in the now heating up bot explain's the full of everything
u need no decorder ring nor can u be acused of not getting it,it is just a long dam thread..hence the mirc
