I have never smoked, so I admit I havent a clue, plus I dont want to change the topic, but I have got to ask, how are the e-cigs healthier?
Ive seen the commercials, and it looks like they are still putting nicotine in the body, is it just the absence of the hot smoke thing that is healthier?

Yep you are inhaling nicotine, which in itself is not entirely healthy, it is a drug after all, but weigh that up with the 500+ chemicals, as opposed to the handfull in e-cig liquids, that are in your everyday cigarette and i know which i would rather use (i would rather do neither, but atm i will choose the lesser of the two evils, bloody addictions :( )

Oh, a large industrial usage of nicotine is the folks that make pesticides.  Just thought I'd share.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

I'm blown away by your transformation.  Seriously.  You have determination of steel.
I beat the smoking thing over a year ago by using nicotine gum.  I actually found quitting smoking easier than quitting beer.  I still drink beer.  After about a month on the gum I just "forgot to buy some" and that was the end.
Beer, not so easy.
Keep up the good work.

That's just awesome.  So do you feel invigorated, confident, sexy, strong, sad, lonely, what?  Just wondering what that kind of change has on the psyche.  Keep up the focus.  You're a model to many who don't even know you...

I feel confident, not so strong yet. I was bull headed at first and just plain quit eating.
I saw no bad side at first. week very week. coils at work got to heavy. I could lift a 200 pound coil and strapped it for the lift no problem. Until crash diet. I was tossed around like a rag doll. I decided I was not dieting right, and picked up P90X
I still think I should have started off with power 90 first.

If you just need a extra push to get you motivated .... The diet is very simple.  the change with my wife and I is all the extra drive I need,

I love it that my wife can jump into my arms and wrap her legs around my waist and hug me.

sense of touch is greatly improved. going down the hallway the china cabinet used to grab my belt loop. Instant pissed off mode. It no longer grabs me. I fit in my own hallway.

Congrats to the OP, well done!

Someone said being thirsty all the time gives you diabetes. Almost right but not really. Having diabetes makes you thirsty. Being fat puts you at risk of type 2 diabetes. Also Glucosamine is no longer being prescribed by GPs in England due to recent research (possibly the British Medical Journal) that it doesn't actually do anything. Your best bet for joint pain is to speak to a doctor and a physiotherapist. Between them you should get painkillers, an investigation into the cause of the pain and some exercises to help resolve it and strengthen the joints.

Seriously though, congratulations on losing the weight and the booze. Good luck with kicking the ---daisies--- as well.

My weight loss plan has worked really well the last 2 months.  I've lost about 30 pounds.

Here's the steps:

1.  Miss a bunch of deadlines at work due to no fault of your own
2.  Have your 3 year old kicked out of daycare for defending himself (the other kid was kicked out too, they pretty much have a 0 tolerance policy)
3.  Have your wife tell you that she doesn't love you anymore and wants a divorce
4.  Also have said wife pretty much bail on all the family bills
5.  SUCCESS!

edit:  Ok, this probably was a thread-jack, sorry about that.  Although, I have lost about 30 pounds in 2 months.  And now I have no one bitching about cabinets in the house, so that's good.  Also, great job to the OP, you did things that 90% of america could probably never do.  Be proud.

I can not take painkillers, allergic. I found out 2 years ago, when I cut off my finger.itches me from inside out. Darn pills had me wallering on the carpet like a dog.

bananas  honey and nuts cover that.
Bananas and honey are not healthy! Are you afro/south american or asian, then bananas are OK. For white people they are not. Honey has some nasty sides too.

What are the nasty sides to honey?  I'm not disputing the statement, just interested.  Everything I read about it seems to be pretty positive.  Got a link or some evidence to the contrary?  I guess some folks might be allergic to it, but then there's probably an allergy for just about anything for certain people.

You don't give honey to babies (minute traces of botulism that adults can handle but can make babies sick) but I've never heard of it being bad for anyone older than a baby...

+1 Honey and babies don't mix, but I've never heard anything bad about honey for adults, but plenty of good things.

Never heard anything bad about bananas either, other than the ones we have now suck compared to those that were available before the worldwide banana plague back years ago wiped out that entire strain.

But I still like them.

Yeah apparantly so. I guess us white people dont have the supreme digestive system of either black people, asians, or south americans.  ::)

Thats probably one of the most ridiculous things I have seen on this thread. Bananas are great for you, and honey is just well, sweetner. Anything in excess is bad for you, but generally speaking, bananas are nutritious.
Pictures are overrated anyway.

Have a look at food studies. Africans and Asians can digest way more sugar than white people can. For white it is even better to have a Scandic diet than a Mediterenean one! Apple's pears, red and blue berries are the right fruits for them.
The honey thing was about babies, I forgot. We have a baby so that is how that story must have been got into my mind.

+1

I eat about 340 a year. Give or take a few for the days we don't have any here or they're too ripe. I've been eating one a day for years.  :dunno

+2.  I usually eat a banana a day at work.  Never had any problems.

People with potassium problems can't have bananas... ?

my father in law was going in for surgery to have his leg amputated. The surgery was rescheduled because of high potassium levels . he was admitted in to be monitored. he was at stroke level. I do not remember the count level but it was obvious it was very critical and we never knew there was a problem other than staff infection.

Diet had to change, #1 thing no bananas

Me I eat up on them heavy when muscle cramps wake me up all knotted up.  That is after I am done beating the crap out of said muscle
