Better way to put MAME cabinet to sleep?
« on: September 16, 2011, 08:54:54 pm »
Right now I have my mame cabinet set to go to sleep after a couple hours. This only happens if I close my front end application, though. This causes me to always have to grab the mouse to restart the front end when I wake it up. I'm sure there's a much smoother way for me to be handling this. Any tips like forcing a button toggle combination (something like holding player 1 start +player 2 start) to close the front end and put the PC to sleep?

Currently HyperSpin... But I'm starting to wonder if there's better. Is MaLa the way to go? Or something else?

mala has excellent shutdown/standby/hibernate and resume functionality.  I'm not up on HS, but there are several here who are.  there is a HS forum as well.

Simplest solution is to go to Control Panel, Power Options, Advanced, what to do when power button pressed, Hibernate :) Then you can use the power button to sleep/wake up again.  (The only drawback is that the button now can't shut down windows).   Alternatively look in the bios and check that your keyboard is setup to allow wake up, normally mouse is enabled by default but not keyboard.
