The Stand 1994
« on: August 18, 2011, 04:14:30 am »
I just finished watching this 6 hour movie, it was just as good as I remember when it first came out. Makes me wonder why they can’t produce more of these epic made for TV series.  :-[

Why make a really good 6 hour series when you can make a mediocre 60 hour series and sell ten times the commercial space and blurays?

I really like this adaptation. Unfortunately, Hollywood is working on a big screen version (two part). I don't see the need for another adaptation this soon.

Plus, come on, who is more perfect for Stu Redman than Gary Sinise?

The hand of God comes down, grabs the bomb, and detonates it.

Ya there were some questionable parts at the last episode. They had the demon get mad at his lackey, turn into a demon (which was just a really bad costume) throw a tantrum and then turn back into a human. It completely sucked out all the suspense that he was the devil and was just lame. To me the serious would have been stronger if he was not in it at all. They should have had him in some dream sequences, kept him as the crow observing, and had his disciplines to carry out his wishes.

Other then that the first 3 episodes I was more interested in what’s coming next then I was watching Lost.

I dunno, I heard there were some sheep who bought it on VHS afterwards ... Including Mrs Cheffo.

The point is that YOU don'T get to choose how much money "they" should make (EDIT) AND then get to ---smurfette--- about people not making quality IP.

Ah yes, I do remember it then. I remember watching it every week without fail, it was awesome. Then the last episode happened with the finger click A-bomb scene and I thought, what the F..K.  Weeks of viewing ruined by one of the worst endings ever.

Sorry for the confusion ... I was responding to your question ...

Makes me wonder why they can’t produce more of these epic made for TV series.  :-[

and I think that your prior postings on needing to pirate everything (and how those of us who don't are sheep) could have something to do with why things like that aren't done so much anymore.

saint gave you his reason for not writing another book after the excessive pirating of his books ... an activity that you condone.

Ron Howard is still shopping the Dark Tower around as well.  It'd be cool if they cast the Man in Black with the same actor in both adaptations

Hopefully Ron Howard fails to get it made. Talk about someone NOT suited to make it. I mean, the guy cast Javier Bardem as Roland! WTF?!?

Looks like it is this one.

Noticed an “E” in the marque. Went to my 1300 Cab pictures and looked through the E’s.
I could not find the full name.  “Escape” __ something.
