I didn't even want to look at this thread until after I saw the movie, which I went and saw this weekend. I had some huge issues about how it would be going in...
... because I'm sick of the "reboot" idea, and I also knew that if it did mesh up with the original movie, it would have to end with the extermination of mankind in a war (my assumption based on the original) and I didn't think the movie would go there.
The fact that it didn't end with a war, but then alluded to the extermination of mankind via virus was very clever.
Not sure why they did it 4 minutes into the credits, but I'm glad they did it. I almost walked out disappointed in the ending because of the way they handled it.
Thought the movie was a little slow getting started, but not boring. Its refreshing to see smart sci-fi that isn't ponderous. Really liked it, though the slow build up might make it a little tedious for repeat viewings.
