  • HulkaMAMEia is runnin' wild!
sup everyone.  i've been a member here for quite some time and after building my Mamestrosity showcase cab in 2004 (i think), i bought a cabinet shell and 2 player iPac from a local guy...which has been sitting at my mom's house for the last 5-6 years!  the initial plan was to take that shell and build a cab for a friend and make some money, but that never panned out.  anyway, i moved my showcase cab out of my house and into my mom's basement so my nephews and family could play on it.  of course that left me with no arcade cab at my house to play every so often!  a travesty i know (not necessarily so in my wifes' eyes though  ;D)

well after many years, i've decided to get the cabinet out of my mom's garage and move it back into my house for me to work on.  i was born in raised in Kentucky, and so i'm a big Kentucky Wildcats fan.  i have a rec room thats themed in UK stuff so i wanted to theme my cab around that.  i was toying around with different names, and i first settled on "Wild-cade" but thats just dumb and then i decided that "UK-ade" rolls off the tongue much better.

check out the two pics of the cab.

i have no idea what this used to be, but am i right in that its a Dynamo cab?  ive only made one cab in my life and thats the showcase cab which was scratch built with no plans, so ive never really tackled a conversion.  the white t-molding will actually work nicely since i plan on painting the cab a nice royal blue color (or Kentucky blue as we call it  ;D ).  this will of course be a 2 player cab, and at this point im not going to be putting anything other than two 8 way joysticks and 6 push buttons.  no 4 ways, or spinners, or trackballs.  this will be be a pretty basic cab with no fancy peripherals or crazy games on it.  thats what my showcase cab is for.

as for artwork...well i'm pretty crappy at photoshop so i'll either have to hire someone to do the artwork (pixelhugger did my mamestrosity stuff for FREE back in the day :o, but he's moved on and started charging for his work...rightfully so...it's freakin awesome).  ive told my wife that i wouldnt be spending a lot of money on this, so the artwork will have to be either created by me or someone will be nice and do it for me for free  8).  anyway, here's the logo and theme colors

or

and maybe this somewhere:

suggestions?  what do you guys think?

Since your a transplant from Ky in Nashvagas. Have you made it to the new arcade in the Rivergate area next to Chuck E Cheese? It's the same owners who have the arcade in Hickory Hollow.
I need a house to put stuff in, instead of an apartment with stacks of boxes.

say whaaaaat?   :o  i had no idea someone had actually started up an arcade "round these parts" (there i said it).  do they have a website?

Needs more banjos and river rape.

thanks, i'm pretty excited about it too.  and i honestly thought your buckeyes were looking good to at least make the final four last year.  even as an arrogant UK fan where every year we expect to at least be in the final four  ::) i didnt think we would make it past you.

Anyway, if you're gonna do this, I highly suggest you go with the penis-tongue version of the mascot.

They don't have a website but they are on Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Game-Galaxy-Arcade/204834345061

The owners kind of remind me of the clerks in "High Fidelity", you kind of get the feeling from them that you are not worthy of playing their machines but give us money anyway.

Edit: I stand corrected they do have a website

It's kind of a nerd's heaven in that shopping center. The arcade, next to a comic book store, next to a Gamestop. Be warned there is a Chuck E Cheese in-between them also, the parking lot is packed and overrun with kids on the weekends.
