New movie: Planet of the Apes

So I take it Clint isn't gonna make Every Which Way but Loose into a trilogy. 

I am not a fan of excessive CGI either. It can sometimes be well blended in moderation, but I still think a muppet looks 10x more convincing than any cgi character.

Dont get me wrong, I like it when its absolutley neccessary when practical effects cant do a job, like an army of terminators, or a space battle or something. But apes I think they could do. I agree with you sir, muppets all the way.

Youre right Flake, the 1 percent that isnt going to be CG is James Franco. They should matte out the dark circles under his eyes though, those are weird.

Yes.
They had different "races" evolved from orangutan, gorillas... but if memory serves me right, chimps were still primitive.

If the new movie were to go for scientific accuracy, the evolved "monkeys" would be bonobo apes. There's a fascinating TED talk about them here, with one of them playing a pretty good game of Ms Pac Man!

Anyway, I can see where the confusion would come in since Mike later talks about Chimps.

Also, I think it is about time to whip out the Planet of the apes musical, this thread wouldn't be complete without it:
