Degaussing not solving my Dell monitor problem
« on: July 11, 2011, 02:06:43 pm »
I've had a Dell M992 monitor at a 45deg angle in my current build, a Star Wars upright. Turned it on today and I have discolouring around the top edge.

Tried degaussing but it didn't help. I then took the monitor out of the cab, put it level, and it looks fine. Back at an angle, looks bad, even after degaussing again.

Any idea what could be causing it? It's been fine for weeks.

hi
there is a easy set of test's

1=is it getting colse to a magnet >spearker< ?
ie something that will through the puity out

2=easy test is to inspect

3= tap around the side's of the tube
ie top/bottom/side-left/side-right
watch the color=purity,if it shift's
ie fall's let's say to a blue or green or red and or back into purity as up tap
then that means your shadow mask has come free from the face of the tube
and it cannot be repaired

Thanks ed12,
There are speakers in the cab pretty close to the monitor, yes. I'll try what you suggested.
