Well after dreaming about this for literally years and accumulating most every part needed... I'm dipping my toe into an upright build. Progress will be slow but I have some time this week with the family out of town. Goal is to get the control box set up - I know, I know, against the rules but I don't have workshop space for the big stuff right now.
Only a couple missteps on day 1:
1) Sawed through the top of a bench cookie that was placed too close to the edge.
2) Router bearing slid under my template (at about 7 o'clock on the pic). I'll have to fill that.
Lesson learned, I did about 2 holes with the forstner bit before going to the router. Too much work and took too long for the full panel thickness. With the template lined up I went at each hole with a 5/8" spade bit and then flush trimmed the rest.
