Got any more pics of the building process?  I'd love to see the details.

What about a quick summary?  How long did it take?  What was the most challenging part?  How expensive was it? Etc.

Sorry i dont have anymore pics.
also these machines arent cheap to build
quick break down off the top of my head.

3XLCD's 1000.00
Pinball parts 700.00
ipac 60
LEDWIZ 60
Wood 80
Glass 100
Artwork 150.00
Odds and ends 100
Contractors 360.00
LED's 100.00
PC 1000.00
speakers 120.00

You looking at about 3K to build one of these and a TONNNN of time. but it totally worth it. You can probably build a cheap setup for about 2K. If you also went an bought a dead cabinet with all the parts it you would save about 1K off the bat.

Absolutely fantastic.  But I think what impresses me the most is that you were able to finish it after you had a playable mock-up.  Be honest, how much was the time to make it increased, due to play-testing between steps?  ;D

I agree with javeryh, looks like a factory job.  Great artwork too!  :applaud:

It wasn't too bad. The big thing that takes time is wiring the thing, building a machine like this take X2 more effort than a MAME. And yes i played alot of staging. haha. What kept me going was the space staging took too much room in my main room.. also the lights at the top and the force feedback in the machine push you to finish. BTW the LEDWIZ has brought alot to the table in the realm of Virtual pinball, Im sure you've seen and increase in your sales on the board in the last 2 months.

I would say this project took me 4 months to build from start to finish. Thats if you build from scratch.

Thanks.  I've seen some pretty amazing things being done with them in that application.  There are some really talented people out there taking advantage of it's functionality, and it does help keep the demand steady.

Again, great job.  BTW, I'm not sure if you have leaf buttons in there for the flippers, but I highly recommend some.  I built a makeshift panel so I could play PinballFX2, and used a couple of our transparent red CLASSX buttons for the flippers, with the True-Leaf Pro switches, and it makes a huge difference in playability.  If you don't have leaf switches, definitely give them a try.

I think he meant contactors.  They're noisy relays and used to give a better approximation of flipper feedback than you'd get with just software

Thanks i think.. i down the road ill probably swap it out i need to find someone with an ultra sonic water machine.

I've installed force feed back into the machine theres solenoids that knock the side of the cabinet. There place all over inside, they suppose to simulated knocking like a real cab.

Amazing. first thing I noticed was the Killer Instinct 2 CPO on the KI1 machine. Which game is in there? MAME?

back to the point of this, love the build. Im not sure if this one or Chris' build is better but they are both equally amazing.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Its a KI Mame, i bought just dead empty cab cleaned all the mouse crap out of it and converted it. There's a 27" TV in it, I  tossed an i3 into it. I'm planning on redoing the whole CP someday to support 4 players but make it module so i can add 2 additional players. Because i move the cabinet in and out of the room and stick into a dooway when company comes over it saves a ton of space. lol..

Ill be start my racing cabinet this weekend i got a new seat! woot!

Hi

I got questions for you ....

If you had it to do all over again , would you use a 46in playfield ?

Are you happy with your 42in ?

Would you do anything else different ?

How does it size up to that adams family ?  I mean it looks awesome ofcourse , but does it look like a 'real' pin cab from across the room ?

I am about to build one , and can't figure out if I want to spend the extra $400 for the 46in.

Thanks

Jason

Ofcourse its awesome ... !!!!

PS. Do you have saltwater fish ?

To answer your first question, Nothing will replace the real thing in regards to pinball. But VP is pretty Dang close. With the recent improvements of adding force feed back and topper lighting VP is at a new level. VP has been only been around for maybe 2 years (that's the full size table stuff) and it keeps getting better. Table authors are pushing the limits in details, to replicate the real thing the best they can.

It all depends on the authors of the tables also in term of quality Jpsales has produced a ton of tables that are really close to the  real thing.

In terms of realism i sold my original Addams family, Indiana Jones, Twilight zone. Why? because i hate maintenance, and VP is AWESOME.  Real pinball's break like cars (and can cost the same to repair) and pinballs aren't getting any younger. Therefore as time goes on more stuff will break and yes it looks like a real pin across the room Ive had company say they can't believe there playing a machine, it feels and looks real, It actually throws them off. Space is also an issue i wanted a driving cabinet also.

Monitors
There's 2 factors to consider, Cost and BALL SIZE.
i went with a 42 because it was cheaper, but because i felt a 46" ball size would be too big! and the flippers would be massive. I wanted something to scale.  I guess it's all personal choice.

Do different?
I would consider 46" LCD maybe. I would need to run some tests..
Smaller LCD try and 30" back glass, there hard to find. I know you can find 28"

Suggestion's
Don't cheap out on parts on the cab if your going to spend the money budget for 2.5-3K at least and force feed back and lights make a big difference

and
Yes i do have Saltwater fish

just so you know, and NBA Jam 4 player CP will bolt right up to that cab.

Back to the pincab, have any pix of the inside or wiring?
