Hey all,
Since I finished work on the SHMUP and have been slacking on my Centipede bartop, I haven't had a chance to frequent the forums much... But I have been working something gaming related and thought I'd share it with all the fine folks of the BYOAC.

This new project is the brainchild of my good friend, and fellow BYOACer,
Madk. After having used multiple other game databases to track his growing NES and Sega Master System collection, he took matters into his own hands and started work on VGCollect. Since I collect Game Boy & Game Boy Color hardware and games I jumped right in to help. Here's the gist of it and what we are doing:
VGCollect is both a video game database and collection tracking software. After dealing with other site's and some of the hoops you had to jump through to get missing games approved. Matt decided to make our database completely user friendly. The entire thing is maintained completely by it's users and games can be added to the database freely by anyone. If a game isn't listed you can simply add it and it will be instantly available to add to your collection.
If there is an item with some incorrect or missing data any user can submit an edit to it. We have a team of moderators that will attempt to verify and approve all data as quickly as possible and notify you when your update is accepted. Also, If you collect a system that has yet to be listed, just drop a message in our forum and we'll add it to the database, we even have people adding arcade hardware and boards to their collections.
Each listing allows for box art, descriptions, item numbers, upc codes and more. We cater to the hardcore game collectors by creating individual listings for each and every known variation of a game, be it a packaging change, limited edition, re-releases etc. Users can check off if they own the game, box, manual and any misc inserts, as well as add notes on each of their games. Thus allowing for the most accurate listing of your collections. If you're not a super collector, No need to worry, it's still easy to find your games and list them in your collection. Like most gamers, you more than likely have a ton of gaming related gear along side your game collection. So, along side games and hardware, we also have listings for accessories, magazines, strategy guides and swag. Now, you can keep track of these as well.
Are you at your local game shop and not sure what you're missing? Or tired of carrying a notepad with you when you out hunting for those missing games? If you've got an Android phone, we've got an app for that. While it's currently in beta, the VGCollect app allows you to view your collection by system. Complete with your notes, so you can see what you need easily. Plus once you fill your missing slots, you can add those new treasures to your collection on the fly, right from the app. It's on the Android market, just search for VGCollect.
While the meat of the site is in collection and the database. We've also got a growing community committed to discussing games and maintaining a highest quality content in the database. Have a question of where something should be listed? ask away. Wondering the proper format for listing variations and special releases? it's there too. We are a community of hoarders and lovers of gaming.
