Soft 15khz Tri Sync Monitor. Modes for PC Games
« on: February 15, 2011, 07:18:37 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm a frequent reader but don't post a lot but I have a question I haven't managed to search an anwser for!

I have a tri-sync monitor, a Pentranic one, that certainly won't be happy above 480p. I am using it for mame and PC games too. I am not yet ready for the PC to enter the cab but when i do i will install all 3 modes. Some PC games I would like on the machine don't go down as low as 640x480 so I need a mode to cater for them.

I will create a custom31khz.txt file, you just create the file and place it in the same folder as the executable, and thats it? No need to press user modes button?

It will start with

remove 720,480
remove 800,600
remove 1024,768

But then what would I put to gain the 800x600 and 1024x768 back in interlaced mode. All the numbers lose me with the custom modelines!?

Thanks for any help

Looking here:
http://community.arcadeinfo.de/showthread.php?t=8170

...it says it will install a special 31khz 800x600 mode @ 50 Hz.  So you shouldn't have to do anything special but install 15khz, 25khz, and 31khz (assuming your monitor actually supports all 3).  You shouldn't have to remove anything or mess with custom files.  Looks like it even includes an interlaced 1024x768 mode.

Thanks, I'm really not sure!? As far as I am aware 480 is the max I should feed it progressive!

What's the model?  If you can post specs I'm sure we can figure it out.  How do you know it's tri-sync?

Its backed up against the wall at the moment, I still need someone to help get it out so I can wire up the computer when I have finished it! I can have a look at the model number then as I have to rotate it from vertical anyway. Not sure if there are many 29" Tri-Sync Pentranics or not!

It is in a Windy II candy cab, which is a Tri-Sync cab. I believe all input is via VGA and I have had a Espgaluda Cave PCB in it for the last 6 months which is 15k.
