CPS2 "A Board" Fan
« on: January 18, 2011, 10:28:26 am »
Is it always this loud? I tried cleaning it with canned air and wipes, and the blades look pretty clean, but it sounds like an airplane taking off.

Can the fan be replaced? Is it needed? I was gonnna crack open the A board shell and replace it was a quiet green LED fan if that was an option.

Also, does anyone have any B board covers? my Marvel Vs Capcom 1 Blue shell is cracked bad, and my Street Fighter Zero 3 green shell is completely destroyed, I actually took SFZ3 out of what was left of the shell.

Mine is loud, too...  even closed up in my candy cab, I can hear it.

I was reading up on system11.org and they suggest this:

http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=P41GyhEsKL6VFg1vBFDPjQ%3D%3D

or

http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=papst_60mm

or

"Putting a 1/2W 56ohm resistor on the stock fan will work adequately (takes it down to about 7.5V, which is within spec), though it's not going to be near as quiet as the 612FL. "

wouldnt a PC fan of the same size work (60x60x15) ? I can solder or splice 2 wires  :dunno

I would think so.  There are tons of quiet 60mm fans on newegg, etc...
