Bad Dudes Arcade: Score Question

So this is very weird..

A few years ago I got this Bad Dudes arcade and the very first time I played it all the way through I got a score of 1000000.

Every other time after that I play through it and only get 999999...  what gives?  Was that some sort of glitch?  The only thing I did differently the first time was I didn't use that charged super punch because I didn't know how to do it.. not sure if that would really even make a difference in the score, but I haven't really tried it yet b/c I get impatient with the bosses.  This is irritating the heck out of me!   :angry:
