I have project 64 1.7 running on a basic intel family chipset, only 128mb. 1 gb ram

Do you have other applications or processes running in the background? Are you running the emulator through a front end?
Have you tried a different version of Project 64? Are you sure your roms are good?
Can you be a little more clear on what the problem is? Is it a single game that you're noticing this in, or has it been several many games?
