Am I the only one that feels the vast majority of touch screen games suck ass?
Why is it that developers are literally handed a whole new user interface on a silver platter and 90% of these morons go and create some clone that was successful on a different platform (read: a platform that does not use a touch screen interface).
Case in point. I've demoed at least six or seven different RPGs and every single one of them suffer from the same crap interface. The developers felt it was necessary to code in a virtual joystick and buttons for controlling the interface. WTF is wrong with these people? Holy crap. RPGs and touch screen interfaces should literally be conjoined at the ---smurfing--- hips. Why torture the player to tapping a virtual joystick to scroll through a list of items to purchase in a store? Or using a joystick to walk around? I know my avatar is going to walk South and talk to that bimbo standing in front of the house. How difficult is it to "tap" the ---smurfette--- and have my avatar walk over there and talk?
And dialog with more than one page, why is it necessary to tap the hidden virtual button to go to the next page? This is an area that both Apple and Android have down pat. Just swipe the screen to scroll the text.
RPGs aren't the only ones to suffer from moronic translations but in my opinion there's no other genre, that should translate so well, falling flat on their face.
