I had a McRib yesterday, all my onions were on one side of the bun and the pickles were outside of the bun.  Plus very light on the sauce.  Was it good : yes.  Was it great : no.  Will I go get another one? : Hell yeah!!!!

I was too young to eat it in the mid 80's (born in 82) What was the difference?

Probably all the coke Ginsu Victim was doing back then...

Yeah, before I completely ruined my senses....

I had 2 yesterday. They must be screwing them up where you guys live.  Both of mine filled the box and was COVERED in sauce, tons of onions too. I'll prolly get another today =)

That's an old trick.  Make the box smaller than the sandwich so's it looks like they's hookin' you up, yo!  But the reality is, it's a smaller sandwich than it first was, and the onions were different.  Remember, I'm talking about the "out of the gate 1981 vintage McRib".  It was actually a permanent part of the menu for a while, but they canned it based on marginal sales numbers.  If you like the things they are selling as McRibs today, you'd break into tears of joy if you saw the original.  Ok, maybe that's a little extreme, but those who never had the pleasure really don't know what they are missing.

Still, even the current version is hard to resist.  I'm probably going to hit one or two tonight for dinner.  Here's to hoping they don't get stingy with the sauce!  8)

The best part about eating a McRib back in the 80s- the fact that you could eat it in front of the tv and watch actual music videos on MTV while waiting for Robotech to come on.

I dont think it is a lot different, I was born in 78 and had a few McRibs in my day. I dont think its as overcooked as it used to be (one reason I like the old one better) but I really cant complain for $2.50ish

Youre kidding right? Spam is awful, I dont know where they get the meat for the mcrib, but it doesnt even matter. Its delicious. I wish I would have tasted the one from the 80's but I dont really think how different it can be. Its SO GOOD.

The sourdough jack from JITB is killer too, but you can get that anytime, same with IN n Out. Back on point, GET A MCRIB OR DIE!!!  >:D

It's stupid for a restaurant to purchase "cheaper" cups if the option is available to them. IIRC the numbers correctly, sodas amount to phenomenal profit margins for restaurant chains. Back in 1995, I crushed the numbers once and the overhead on a single XL cup of soda amounted to less than two cents. It would take an additional six refills to add another couple of pennies to that. I can't imagine the numbers being that much higher in 2010.

That's because everyone's trained to fill the cup with ice.  Completely filled.

Dude, how do you not get onions or pickles on the McRib?! Thats what makes it.

The SAUCE makes it.  (Coincidentally, I hadn't realized this, but it's the same BBQ that they use for the nuggets dipping sauce.)  Not onions or pickles.  And I love onions and pickles, they just don't appeal to me on that sandwich.  When I worked there, I'd put some cheese on it, but I'm too thrifty to do that now.

Anyone else notice that the McRib came back around the same time that processing plants started having lots of leftover turkey parts?   :dizzy:
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Me and my wife were at McDonalds last week and ordered the 6 pc. chicken nuggets.  I ate about 3 and she grabbed one and after the first bite she spit it back out and there was a bone about the size of a dime in the nugget!  I didn't even know chickens had bones that big in them!  It must have been the top of the spinal column or something..  She almost threw up and I just felt sick to my stomache knowing I already ate 3..  We left and swore to never eat there again.

Later we were kicking ourselves because we probably could have sued.  She could have choked on that thing or cut her mouth.  SIZE OF A DIME!!  THATS PRETTY MUCH HALF OF THE NUGGET!!

I suspect you would have no case. There's something about implied risk that comes into play, i.e. it's not unreasonable that you might find a bone in a piece of chicken.

Now, if the bone was that big, maybe it wasn't chicken...

Meh, ate this the other day.  Gives it to me live and wriggling.  Chicken paste is nothing.

Ok, so you ate fresh oysters.  "Live and wriggling" translates to me as "fresh and flavourful".  I'm so jealous.

Thank you, Lifehacker.  Make your own McRib.

Annotated version:

Cooked pork
Favorite BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
Pickles (hamburger chips)
whole onion - sliced
Hoagie/sandwich rolls

Not exactly difficult to recreate.
